I had an amazing stay and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bonaire!
From the moment I arrived, the entire hotel team made me feel welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, attentive, and always happy to help. They truly made my first stay on Bonaire a very special and memorable experience.
My room was excellent—spotlessly clean, comfortable, and very cozy, making it the perfect place to relax the whole day long and after a day of exploring the island.
Food and Drinks were another highlight. Breakfast and dinner at Restaurant Flora were absolutely delicious, and the snacks at the new lounge bar were excellent as well.
I gladly give this hotel 5 stars for the rooms, service, and location. Thank you to the whole team for such a wonderful stay. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bonaire and will return as soon as I can :-)

We stayed at Hotel Bougainvillea for a week in early February. It is a beautiful spot right on the water. It is close enough to town that you can get to restaurants easily but set on a quieter part of the coast so it is very relaxing. The fact that it is a small hotel was a plus for us. We stayed in their Oceanfront Cabana which is steps from the water. The website photos accurately depict the room. Everyone on the staff is responsive, friendly and helpful from the day you book to the day you check out. While the airport is close by it was not an issue at all. There aren't a lot of planes and we found it interesting to see them coming in for landing. We had breakfast every morning at their restaurant, Restaurant Flora. Excellent food and a beautiful view overlooking the water. It was a wonderful stay.

I originally posted a positive review of the hotel while being critical of the restaurant's inability to provide a single vegan meal. Instead of addressing the feedback, management "ambushed" me at the front desk and pressured me to take the review down. I did so at the time for my own comfort during a 10-day stay, but their continued lack of professionalism has left me with no choice but to be fully transparent.
Management & Lack of Personalized Service
Boutique hotels are supposed to be known for their personalized service and attention to detail. My experience was the exact opposite. In 2026, it is reasonable to expect a "pivot menu" where a dish can be modified (like simply removing cheese). Over my entire 10-day stay, no effort was made to accommodate me. It would have been incredibly simple for the staff to pick up hummus or fresh items from the local grocery store to provide a vegetable plate, yet they made zero effort. When I raised this, I was told it was "my fault" for not phoning ahead of time to make an "informed choice" before booking. Beyond their own kitchen, they offered no help in navigating the local area; instead of providing a list of nearby restaurants that could accommodate a vegan diet, they simply told me "no" over and over again.
Communication & Professional Boundaries
After I took my initial review down, I emailed them directly. My email was not critical; it was genuine feedback suggesting they find a vegan option or at least maintain a list of nearby restaurants that do, allowing guests to feel cared for rather than ignored. Despite my clear preference for email, they insisted they "prefer in-person conversations." True hospitality means communicating with a guest in the way they feel most comfortable. Instead, I was cornered at the front desk while returning with takeout food and forced to discuss my feedback while my meal got cold. Furthermore, I witnessed basic hygiene being ignored, such as staff members reaching into the ice with their bare hands rather than using a scoop or a cup—a significant health concern for any guest.
Noise & Lack of Privacy
The "Premium" Room: I paid a premium for an "Ocean Front" room, but it offered zero privacy. My balcony was a high-traffic walkway for cleaning staff and other guests. I couldn't sit outside without strangers passing within a foot or two of me.
Runway Noise: The hotel is directly across from the airport and under the flight path. Because of the runway proximity, planes come in so low that the entire building shakes.
Property Disrepair: The hotel is dated and poorly maintained. A dead palm tree was a prominent part of my window view for 10 days, common area garbage was never moved, and the outdoor furniture is faded and uncomfortable.
The Only Bright Spot
The cleaning staff are lovely and hardworking. If you do stay here, please tip them very well. Given how management treats paying customers, I can only imagine how they treat their staff.
Final Verdict: Do not be fooled by the "boutique" description. This is a dated property with confrontational management that does not value guest privacy, hygiene, or basic dietary needs.

The location is close to the airport so you here the planes flying over and it's near the public beach so you can also here loud music going on late at night. Our villa was the beach front one and the view was beautiful but the beach access was not so obtainable. We didn't eat at the hotel because there was so much outside to explore. The room was small but cute, it gave for a romantic feel.

We enjoyed our 5 night stay so much, it was difficult to leave. My husband kept asking me, “How did you find this place?” But you need only read the reviews to know you are onto something special. We found our accommodation to be clean, comfortable, and peaceful, all with spectacular views. With refined simplicity, you will find all of your essential needs met, with anything additional provided upon request. The location is ideal proximity to airport, beaches, and shopping.
Although we found the food in Bonaire to be the best of the 19 Caribbean islands we have visited, the restaurant on site, Flora was beyond exceptional. The perfect blend of comfort and elegance. We are big fans of The Bear (iykyk), so we were excited to experience the chef’s menu. Each surprise course was an intricately designed delight. Be sure to make reservations for dinner in advance. The vibe is nothing short of magical.
