El Consultorio is a small , "hip" bar that caters to those who lean towards urban tastes and ironic snobbery.
I'll start with the biggest problem. There is no table service in this place, unless you're not local. 2 out of 3 staff members joked around on their phones while we waited to be attended. The only waiter focused on just one table.
Second: there's no real bartender here. I merely asked for a liquor-coffee based drink, and while all the ingredients were available (I could see them on the shelves), it took about 15 minutes before they told me that my drink wasn't available. My alternative drink, and espresso martini, ended up being subpar, sadly. The fish tacos, while rudimentary, are delicious.

If you find yourself in Ponce, Puerto Rico, make sure you give yourself the opportunity to check out the chinchorros on Avenida Hostos. Every one of them has an amazing vibe, great music, and the Puerto Rican warmth we all come to love. BUT, if you're also hungry, may I highly recommend El Consultorio. This place has it all! Great vibes, amazing food, excellent drinks and, of course as it is typical in the Island, hospitable and friendly service!
We tried the sliders that come with amarillo (fried plantain) and bacon with crisscut fries and the regular sliders with a side of Onion Rings. WOW! The combination of the amarillos (soft and sweet) combined with the crispy bacon and the juicy steak meat makes this slider, by far, the best I've ever tried anywhere!
If anything, I will visit Ponce again just to eat at el Consul+orio one more time! You must come to your consultation where I guarantee you, you will feel a lot better after a couple of drinks and some comfort food!
