I rented through Go Rent A Car at Grantley Adams Airport in Barbados, which is affiliated with Enterprise/Alamo. At pickup, I was told my deductible was capped at $500, but after a minor scuff I was billed $1,250. The vehicle already had pre-existing marks documented, but the company used an inflated Inchcape estimate to repaint multiple panels to “showroom condition.”
This is not an isolated incident — other customers have reported the same pattern of inflated damage charges, misrepresented deductibles, and unauthorized billing.
Enterprise and Alamo should know that these practices reflect poorly on their global brand. Travelers deserve transparency and fair treatment, not surprise charges after returning a vehicle.

Wonderful staff, nice selection of island-appropriate vehicles and awesome customer service! I rent vehicles frequently for work state-side and am fairly loyal to Enterprise for their top-notch selection and service. The GO! Company is the Bajan affiliate of Enterprise and they did not disappoint! Although they were quite busy when we finally arrived after a long customs processing delay, I was taken care of quickly once an associate asked my name outside near the queue. I was then escorted inside and able to complete the process in about 10-15 minutes.
We were shown to the vehicle and performed a quick walkaround inspection together. The gentleman even helped my adult children with loading the bags in the car and made an effort to go back to the building to secure a free travel guide for our viewing pleasure around the island.
Returning the car was super easy and made even easier thanks to their clear directions via email and whatsapp message provided the day before the rental was due. The gentlemen checking us back in performed the walkaround inspection, and even offered water and a snack while we were preparing to enter the airport queue. I received a follow-up message and pleasant phone call to check on our service after we returned home. The vehicle was great but the customer service was outstanding and truly made the difference. It’s a reminder of why I have been loyal to the Enterprise brands for so many years.
Tips: Have a reservation already in place for your vehicle class BEFORE you get to the airport and pre-complete paperwork if possible; this saved a ton of time and made the difference between me being able to get taken care of very quickly as opposed to standing in a long line waiting to secure a vehicle ad hoc. And definitely spend the few extra dollars to purchase the added coverages on the car, it gives a piece of mind that lessens the worry while driving. Also, take a moment to get used to the experience of driving on the left side of the road with the drivers seat on the right side of the car. It takes getting used to if you’ve never experienced it.
Depending on your home country’s road and traffic systems, driving in Barbados can be challenging. A good co-pilot is extremely helpful for assisting with navigation so you can focus on the roads. If you get overwhelmed easily or are not 100% comfortable with driving in unfamiliar settings, use the pickUP app for licensed lyft/uber type rides.
If you do decide to secure a rental, Enterprise/GO! should be the company you choose! We will definitely use them again whenever we are able to return for a visit!
[Final note for those foreigners in line who were being ugly to the associates, please remember the energy you give to others is reflected back onto you. You are not in your home country and should do a better job of research and planning before your visit to help make things smoother. Even when unfortunate circumstances arise and understandable frustrations may occur, being rude and nasty to customer service workers will NEVER improve your outcome. Kudos to ALL the agents we saw who stayed calm and classy throughout the process and provided excellent service. You are appreciated!]
