This is well worth a visit. There are two parts, the signal station itself and the Gun Hill Lion which is further down the hill (Fusilier Road) and which is accessible by steps from the road (there are a couple of laybys that you can pull off the road and walk up to the lion). Great views from the signal station. The signal station is disabled accessible (apart from the tower). Toilets. There are a few cannon & military memorabilia from centuries ago when the station was one of several used to warn of impending invasion of the island by the French/Spanish/Dutch or of local uprising prior to the abolition of the slave trade. The statue of the Lion is not disabled-friendly. People with little legs should be able to manage the steps with the help of a parent. Check opening times if visiting out of season.

At first the climb looks really steep but only took a few minutes. The lion is really cool to see and the view of the island is impeccable!

It was cool to go for the history, but really wasn't too impressive of a view.

The historic signal station in St George, with the famous Lion carved from the local limestone. Fantastic 360 degree views across St George and neighbouring parishes. A visit is highly recommended, learn how this site fitted into the chain of signaling stations across Barbados.
