Great location with water on 3 sides. Nice spot for sunset. Engaging server but slow and forgetful. Food was good, not great. We shared pasta with shrimp, it had a pool of olive oil at the bottom. Shared tiramisu for dessert. It was bad. Dry and flavorless. I’d visit again but mostly for the location.

Since we were staying at Harbour Village, we had breakfast here, and we also went for dinner a few times. The food is good (some dishes are even excellent), and the view is fantastic, especially in the evening during sunset, but the service is hit or miss.
Sometimes it's great, but quite often we had situations where they forgot an order, or we'd order something and then 15 minutes later they'd come back to ask us for our order again... On one occasion, we waited for an hour, only to be told that they had forgotten our order, so we had to wait for the food all over again. Also, during breakfast, on several occasions menu items ran out.
I got the impression that they have a few experienced staff members (including the chefs) who make everything go smoothly if you happen to get them, but also a lot of inexperienced ones... and they just seem out of sync somehow. Since the restaurant is one of the pricier ones on Bonaire, the service really should be better.

Call ahead to book your reservation to get your name on the list for entry as this is located in a gated private residence area. Do not follow google map directions; instead make the first left after the harbor if you’re traveling north. You have to give your reservation name to the gate attendant, park, and walk about 10min to get to restaurant. Totally worth it!
Come for the sunset or if you don’t make it, try to sit at one of the tables at the very end to get a good view of the tarpons at night

Food was underwhelming, resort-like prices, but the location and ambiance cannot be beat. Spectacular sunset views and magical tarpon sightings when the sun goes down.

The view at night at the balandra is more fun since the tarpon hunt around the restaurant. The lobster risotto is got was so good and my husband loved the beef tenderloin.
