We visited Mero Beach during a street party hosted by Mero Association of Yacht Security, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The atmosphere was incredible - amazing local food, live entertainment, and such a strong sense of community. It felt authentic, welcoming, and full of life. If you’re lucky enough to be in Dominica around April, this is absolutely something you don’t want to miss. From what we heard, it’s an annual event and only grow bigger and better each year. The beach itself is just as impressive - calm, protected, and very family-friendly, with plenty of spots to grab a bite or a drink. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend the whole afternoon rolling into a stunning sunset, stretched out on a beach chair with a drink in hand. A truly memorable experience - highly recommend timing your visit to catch this event if you can.

The blackest sand on a beach you’ll ever see!! It’s beautiful!! Chairs and beach are plentiful but the included WiFi doesn’t work and the outside shower is basically a trickle. Please support the locals! Guy selling fresh plates, making baskets the man selling fresh fruit juices and food plates

One of the better beaches I have been to. The bathrooms were very clean. We were there a bit early and many of the shops and bars were closed, but there is a great selection of them. The sand was clean and the water was great.

The black sand is very pretty and sparkles as the sun hits it. The water can be a bit choppy in this area, so be careful. Most of the beach establishments offer chairs/umbrellas though a bit run down. Bathroom facilities leave a lot to be desired. Make sure to have tissues and change before you arrive.

The sands here were amazing. They were black from the volcanic activity on the island. It was beautiful and the water was so refreshing and active. There was a fun little bar across the main road to the beach. The man that owned some of the chairs was very nice and reasonable. I think it was $25-$30 and you got two lounger chairs, an umbrella and a free drink. My fiance and I walked across the Black Sands Beach all the way to the end and took some amazing photos. I had to deduct some stars though. When we came back from our majestic walk across the beach, my bag was stolen. It had my ear buds, medications, some money for tips.... nothing worth to much. The cops came and questioned a drug addict, homeless guy. He blamed a woman, the woman blamed him. My bag is gone, nonetheless. I will upgrade my rating if I get my bag, and 75% of the things in their back.
