Enjoyed our 4th stay at Sandals Royal Barbados. Main problem for us, just too short. 7 Nights isn't enough. The St Lawrence building is a great location but until the renovation has some AC issues, the rooms though are gorgeous and we love the location by the pool, Heart & Soul for yogurt and a protein shake in the morning. Portofino's still does an incredible steak and it's always busy, no reservations but put your name in and relax at the bar. The reviews are mixed and I have no idea why. There's incredible options from bowling to diving and lots of different spots at the resort to enjoy yourselves. Chairs and towels.. at the pool, no idea why you would pay thousands to hit the Caribbean and not sit in the gardens or on the beach. The main pool is loud, busy and if you want to sit there it could be a challenge. Otherwise, there's lots of room and spots to enjoy.

Aside from the beachfront location, we were disappointed with both the resort and the overall experience. The website and promotional photos are misleading. The property has two sections: Sandals Barbados (older, more basic rooms) and Sandals Royal Barbados (slightly updated but the same thing). Despite how it’s marketed, the resort is not large. Why we will not return: Entertainment: Almost nonexistent. A couple of low-energy games, a DJ, and water aerobics LOL—all limited to one pool. The remaining pools are silent and lifeless. If you’re looking for a fun or social atmosphere, this isn’t it. Food: This was the first vacation where I actually lost weight. Food quality and appeal were poor across the board. At the hibachi restaurant, a roach crawled out from under my plate. I discreetly told the chef, who killed it with his apron. My husband then spotted three more roaches. That completely ended our appetite—and our trust. Service: Outside of the butler staff, service was consistently cold and unwelcoming. Staff often made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. There are no pool or beach servers, so if you want a drink, you’re on your own. Clientele: This resort clearly caters to an older crowd. If you’re under 65 and looking for energy, fun, or even moderate activity, this is not the place for you. Bottom line: Nice beach. Everything else? Overhyped, underdelivered, and absolutely not worth a return visit.

My wife and I had the greatest experience at this hotel. Our butlers were amazing. Shamika, Tania and Nadia were very responsive to any request and had plenty of suggestions for events, restaurants, etc. Barbados is a beautiful island. We did the rum tour one of the days. It was information and fun. The rum is great too. I highly recommend visiting this hotel/island. We will be returning hopefully soon.

Beautiful Resort with Minor Issues - First Visit to Sandals Royal Barbados My husband and I recently stayed at Sandals Royal Barbados for our first Sandals experience, and overall, we had a wonderful time. From the moment we checked in until departure, the service was excellent and the resort itself is absolutely stunning. The property is beautifully maintained with gorgeous grounds, excellent amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout our stay, which really enhanced our experience. However, there were a couple of issues worth noting. The phone in our room was not working for our entire stay, which made it difficult to contact the front desk or have means to communication (especially if we had an emergency) without leaving the room. For a resort of this caliber, having functioning in-room communication is important. Additionally, we were disappointed with the photography package. For the cost of the photos, we expected at least some basic editing, but the images we received appeared to have zero edits or retouching applied, which didn't seem to justify the price point. Despite these concerns, we still had a great experience overall. The beauty of the resort and the quality of service in most areas made for a memorable first visit to Sandals. With a few improvements in these areas, it would be absolutely perfect. Would we return? Yes, but we'd hope these issues are addressed for future guests.

Just back from our second visit to Sandals Barbados, stayed on Barbados side in February and again on the Royal side for 3 weeks over the New Year cerebrations! Beautiful resort, every restaurant was amazing, no problems getting reservations, friendly and helpful staff, great beach and pools, so many bars with fabulous drinks and we simply couldn’t find fault with anything! Highly recommended and myself and my family will definitely be returning! 5*+
