WORTH IT! A challenging steep trail, then we walked up the river and climbed the boulders. Had we known (or looked closer) would have followed the trail instructions in the earlier review for a quicker arrival. Make note of the detailed directions in that earlier post! Round trip was 3 hours. Was an intense activity experience (for my 46yr old unfit body). The falls were beautiful, but cold, loud, and windy. The river hike with its cascades and small pools was lovely. ‘This way to falls. Must find’

Fun little hike. Only about 3.5km round trip but about 3/4 of it is up and down on pretty steep muddy trail so it is tiring for a short trail. We followed the directions of a previous reviewer (screenshot here) which was super helpful, especially for finding the trail head at the start which is not marked. Once you get down to the river there are now blue and yellow trail markers so it was pretty easy to follow from there. The last stint before the waterfall is in the river and over trees and rocks, so be prepared to be wet above the knees and for some scrambling. Worth it. The waterfall was super powerful and we had the place to ourselves. About 2 hour round trip. We swam in pools along the way and at the waterfall base - definitely recommend!

I visited the waterfall in 2020. The trail was not well maintained (tall grass, the trail was not marked) at the time. The hike was moderately difficult. It comprised of trekking along the river and at times crossing the river (stony, but the stones were not slippery at the time). There were some relatively big rocks to climb over to get to the pool. I'd advise anyone going to the waterfall to go with someone who knows the area well or a certified guide. We experience flash flooding at times (may rain in the mountains, but not along the coast), so pay attention to the turbidity of the water. The water at Sari Sari is usually extremely clear/clean. Also, if you are not able to take a guide, ask experienced locals questions. The trail may be impacted by previous floods. The waterfall is lovely once you get to the site as evidenced by the wonderful pictures other visitors have posted.

DETAILED DIRECTIONS: park before the big concrete water tank, walk up the road past the water tank u will see a faint trail it curves to the right pretty soon after that u will walk past a green gate covered in vines and there will be a fork in the trail, go to the right there is a small garden, straight thru the garden the trail picks up again to the left of the big coconut tree. The trail is barely visible, and it goes into the bush. It becomes a little more visible once u enter the bush, but you have to walk thru a "bush" first. This is the most difficult stretch. It is very steep downhill until it hits the river. Once the trail runs into the river, straight across the river, the trail picks up again. At this point, we marked the trail by stacking rocks so we could find it on our way back, which turned out to be helpful. You will walk on the right side of the river in the forest. This trail will get closer to the river at the end, follow it until you are walking on the river rocks, and then when u reach the water, straight across, the trail picks up again. Stack some rocks to mark it. You will walk in the forest to the left of the river. This part is also difficult. This trail will end with a steep decline into the river where there is a small pool and a big fallen tree hanging over the river with vines dangling from it. This is maybe 3/4 of the way, and the river now becomes the trail. Just follow it upstream and enjoy. I recommend a guide to support the locals, and they can spot early signs of flooding. You can't escape this place quickly.

Beautiful waterfall, the access is difficult, but with a little effort you will find the way. we went down from the left, and then along the riverbed. The road outside the water was very overgrown.beautiful waterfall, the access is difficult, but with a little effort you will find the way. we went down from the left, and then along the riverbed. The trip took aproxmerely an hour and a half.
