You get what you pay for and this accommodation is very cheap for Barbados. It is a little rough around the edges, mosquito nets were not fitted properly and despite bringing this to the attention of the owner he took several days to partially fix this. The apartment stunk of the greasy food that is served in their beach side cafe behind their house and the rented first floor apartment. This deeply upset me and I had to spray my expensive Jo Malone on the bedding and curtains, in order to get rid of the smell. The apartment is in desperate need of new doors and a complete refurb. There is no air conditioning in the lounge and it was ridiculously hot. You can’t sit on the veranda unless you want to be bitten to death! We couldn’t get into the sea due to a “swell” which meant it was too rough. So without a pool available this was a bit of problem for us. The owners had about 16 cats and kittens and subsequently the beach is a giant cat litter tray so beware! It was pretty gross tbh. On a good note the owners were really friendly and always helped you get a good position on the beach despite it being totally packed.

You couldn't ask for more welcoming hosts or a more convenient apartment to enjoy Paynes Beach. The apartment was perfect for our family of four and we thoroughly enjoyed our few nights here. Our only regret was not spending more time here. Especially for our daughter, the cats and kittens were a highlight of our travels - especially "Mongoose". Thanks!
