I booked two appointments through the online booking system several weeks in advance—one for myself and one for a friend. Because the booking system would not allow me to change the profile information, I scheduled my friend’s appointment through my account.
When the salon first contacted me by email regarding the appointments, a deposit was not mentioned or requested. The first time a deposit was referenced was after my friend missed her appointment, when I received an email stating there was a $25 no-show fee and that deposits would be required moving forward.
I replied promptly asking how I could submit the deposit to secure my upcoming appointment, but I never received a response to that email. I later sent another email to confirm my appointment and ask again about payment, and again did not receive a reply.
On the day of the appointment, I called the salon simply to confirm whether deposits were paid by card or cash. When I provided my name, I was told I no longer had an appointment because a deposit had not been paid. I attempted to explain that I had previously emailed asking how to pay the deposit and had never received instructions. Unfortunately, I was not given the opportunity to explain the situation and the call was ended while I was speaking.
Because the booking system does not allow deposits or cards to be added, and because my emails asking how to submit the deposit were never answered, I believed my appointment was still scheduled. I had booked weeks in advance and made multiple attempts to communicate.
Clear communication about deposits and responding to client inquiries would help avoid situations like this in the future.
Update to owners response: I would like to clarify a few points so future clients have accurate information.
I initially emailed asking how I could pay the deposit and did not receive a response. The booking system also does not allow a card to be placed on file when scheduling, which is why I reached out for clarification.
Additionally, I did not receive any email notification on February 27th stating that the appointment had been cancelled, which is why I called on the day of the appointment to confirm payment and attendance.
My concern was never the deposit policy itself, but the lack of communication when I attempted to secure the appointment in advance. Clear responses to emails and proper cancellation notifications would help prevent misunderstandings for future clients.

I’m currently in her 7 weeks class. She’s very hands-on, patient, professional and has a “no student left behind” attitude. I look forward to going to classes every week! She makes learning fun and I would definitely recommend.

I was a student in one of her nail courses & it was GREAT! Trying to learn a new skill was frustrating but she took her time with the class & made sure everybody got through with what they had to do. Also very tidy & always on time. I definitely do recommend Nail Fairy for class or any service.

Liz is very patient and friendly so learning a new skill with was not a frustrating or overwhelming experience. In and outside of the classroom she’s made herself available for any questions or queries you may have and that has given me the confidence necessary to start my own business knowing I had continued guidance. All materials were readily available as promised and she shared her own personal experiences and tips that she’s learnt throughout her journey.

i did my classes with nail fairy she is a super great instructor ..she takes her time to make sure we fully understand everything that is being taught and she also makes her students very comfortable and we had a great time learning from her
