This was our first time in Barbados, Chandra made us very welcome, offering advice and tips to get the best out of our stay.
The apartment was very clean and tidy- yes probably a budget apartment, but we came for the beautiful beaches, not to sit in an expensive hotel room, of which there are many across the road.
The a/c worked very well, shower was fine, drinking water and cooking facilities which we used five or six times to make main meal.
It’s very quiet at night, and there is a veranda around the main building for sitting outside on, lots of trees, bushes makes for a very pleasant space.
The dogs are no problem, if you like dogs they like you, if not they stay away.
It has its own private beach across the road, and just a bit further down the road a local beach with a couple of bars/food venues.
At the end of the road there is a little bar that does local food, fish cakes, fried fish, potted fish, very reasonable price, and then next door a fusion Barbadian/Asian restaurant, obviously different price range, but the local food was so good didn’t try this place.
We stayed 10 nights, had a car for 7 of those, but the local yellow buses are so good, regular and cheap it’s possible to manage without.
No surprise that Rum and Bank’s beer are the cheapest tipple, the G&T brigade might want to give it rest for their holiday.
There is a large supermarket about 2 miles up the road, and smaller more expensive one 1 mile in the opposite direction…
This area feels like a local are
a, which we liked, but I swam just a bit further up the cost from our local beach, and arrived at the Sandy Lane beach, which is where the celebs hang out and have apartments.
I know which I prefer, and liked the area and apartments so much that already planning a return, and will stay at Angler Apartment’s - unpretentious, clean, maybe a little quirky, but super friendly host and great location. Looking forward to our next visit.

I just came from Barbados 2 weeks ago and stayed at Angler Apartments for 5 weeks. I normally visit Barbados atleast once every year and after staying at other hotels, the only place I ever wanna stay is at Angler. The place is very nature friendly, owner is very cooperative and helpful with information on getting around and about etc. Beautiful beach. If you're looking for somewhere according to your budget this is the place to stay. You'll love it.

Angler is on the official list of hotels selected by Barbados for quarantine after arrival. Booked online on Agoda (NEVER book this hotel on Agoda even though still available on their site, the partnership was broken and the reservation never made it to the hotel), the place is very tired and should be refreshed to be worth the requested $ 89 USD per night. Shared phone line in the room, it is possible to make local calls for free. WIFI and AC included, very basic kitchen equipment provided in the studio, clean towels provided. Breakfast is not included, for $ 14 USD per person, you will have a choice of meals (we had two scrambled eggs, a chicken sausage, ketchup, a few pieces of watermelon, tea or coffee and an extra butter toast). Chandra is friendly but by the book, will suggest fast food to order (Cheffette or Hopscotch) and call you a taxi when you leave. But if you can find better value for money, do it.

TL;DR: Look somewhere else for a place to stay in Barbados if you value your sanity.
Very disappointed with my stay here. Starting with the location. The icon on the map is not accurate, it is on the EAST side of H1, actually about 300 meters up the road named Clark Road No. 1. Even the taxi driver that took us had a hard time finding it and had to call the owner to figure out where it was. It is not on the beach as the map shows, they do have beach access, but it is about a quarter mile walk down there and is not accessible to young kids or the infirm (the stairs are very steep and dangerous).
The first problem was the dogs. There is no mention that the owner has 4 or 5 dogs at the apartments anywhere on the website or on any details that I received before arriving. They were kind enough to greet us at the gate before any of the staff. While this may not be a problem for some, I have allergies that made this quite difficult. They also bark randomly all throughout the night making a good night's rest extremely difficult. My wife normally isn't bothered by dogs, but even she had a hard time with this bunch.
The rooms are old and dilapidated. They look like they were built in the 1950s and have only had very poor maintenance done since. A lot of the appliances provided didn't work, the stove couldn't even boil a pot of water, we had to cook using only the microwave. The windows are open, allowing all kinds of noise in without any muffling, we couldn't find a way to close them down or block out the noise they were letting in. The rooms were reasonably clean and the housekeeping was quite good although inconsistent.
The WiFi offered didn't even reach the room, and I wasn't even able to find out until after I already agreed to pay the 3 USD per day fee to use it, and no, you can't get it for just a couple of days during your stay.
The beach access is locked, you are provided a key at check-in so you can get through the gate. Our first trip down to the beach, we found the gate unlocked and proceeded in, had a great time, came back to the gate, and found it still unlocked. There were several people down there, so we left the gate as we found it: unlocked. Apparently, somebody stole the lock off the gate, and the owner blamed us for the missing lock since we were the only ones she saw go down there that day. She insisted that we pay for it. Be prepared to be nickled-and-dimed for everything that may go wrong during your stay there.
The food offered at breakfast (which costs extra) made my wife sick, she started feeling better once we started cooking for ourselves.

Pretty good to crash in Barbados. They had dogs out and on the patio which I didn’t like and one dog run to me like it was going to charge at me. But besides that the price is awesome if you don’t mind average looking places. Because everything is expensive around that area and hotel are worse than expensive.
