Black Rock Books is an absolute gem. It’s a warm, family-owned bookstore with a huge and thoughtful selection — truly a treasure trove for readers of every genre. It’s easily my favorite bookstore on the island.
One of the things I appreciate most is their practice of placing books out front that you can take for free or pay any amount you wish. It speaks to their generosity and commitment to keeping reading accessible to everyone.
The atmosphere is inviting, the shelves are full, and the energy is genuine. Highly recommend this spot to anyone who loves books, community spaces, or discovering something unexpected.

I needed a book because I didn't like the one I brought with me on vacation. I popped into Black Rock Books and found 3 small (easy to pack and carry around) fiction books. The book store specializes in Caribbean studies and Black literature. I didn't catch the owner's name, but a sweet man who offered me coffee while I was browsing. A necessary stop if you're in the need for new reading material 📖

Wonderful little bookstore with a friendly owner. Good selection of nonfiction books in particular— history, philosophy, social sciences, etc— and books by local authors and about local topics.

Was disappointed with some of the book shops on the island, but this one was amazing! The owner was friendly and gave some great book suggestions; would definitely recommend a visit!!

Really excellent selection of Caribbean literature (including lots of poetry that's really hard to get hold of anywhere else), as well as books on lots of other themes. The owner is great - really knowledgeable and friendly - and the bookshop felt both extremely well-stocked and like a great community-focus place. There's also an excellent beach just behind. Well worth the visit.
