I enjoyed living here. Don’t get the side with the ocean view as the sun will make your room so hot. Best spot is 2-3 floor facing the parking lot. Nice balconies and enough storage space. Private bathrooms with hot water. Communal kitchens down the hall and eating area. Kitchen can be dirty so wear your shoes and buy your own sponges. Don’t leave dishes out or people will take them. Overall very nice if you are on the higher floors :)

Year after year, the CROUS (student housing) is becoming more and more like a boarding school. Here, it feels more like living in a boarding school than in student accommodation. Of course, security is important, but students are completely ignored. The fact that the CROUS is located in the heart of the university makes the situation even worse: we no longer feel like students, but rather under constant surveillance. We can't even invite whomever we want. After 12:45 PM, practically no one from outside can visit us due to campus security measures. Imagine the nightmare it will be when we have to move out and collect our belongings! Yes, security is necessary, but students should be consulted, since they are the ones most affected by these decisions. We're not against the presence of cameras or security guards, but this is clearly an abuse. It's like being in a prison, with absurd visiting hours and rules. And above all, these measures are pointless. For example, why close the laundry room on weekends when many students stay on campus? Yet another decision made without logic or explanation, which only restricts our freedom. And then we're surprised to see young people leaving for other places? Just look at how we're treated here: our voices are never heard, and people who don't live in these conditions make decisions for us. Yes, the administration must ensure security, but it must also listen to the students. To anyone considering coming to the CROUS this year or next, I strongly advise against it. If things continue like this, living conditions will only worsen: soon, it might be forbidden to move around freely, to stay in front of the building after a certain hour, or even to do laundry in the evening or on weekends, as is now the case at the Annex. A real solution needs to be found to separate the CROUS from the campus. The fact that it's located in the same place is a major obstacle: campus rules apply to those who live there, which is absurd. These days, we can hardly have visitors simply because the CROUS (student housing) is on campus. It's unbearable. We need a separate place, reserved for residents, where we can live normally, without the constraints of campus life! To show you how serious the problem is, a petition has even been launched against these measures. We, the students, are completely ignored by the administration, the CROUS, and the university. In short: don't go to the CROUS. Choose an apartment instead, or stay with your parents if you can. Honestly, under these conditions, it's not worth it. (Also, this only reflects my experience and feelings as a student, although I think many of us feel the same way :P)

A NIGHTMARE!! EVERY DAY the staff come into our apartments even if there's absolutely no problem. I'm not kidding. AT LEAST 3 times a week. They come into our apartments and criticize everything they see: the floor, how we've arranged our rooms, EVERYTHING. And let me show you the irony of their behavior: the student residence refrigerators don't work when we ask them to be repaired, and so on. We never hear back, but when we decide to buy one—because how can you live without a refrigerator?—they show up and tell us it's forbidden. We get a warning and are expelled. This student residence is definitely one to AVOID. A real nightmare. These past two years here have been horrible with such intrusive people who make us feel like we're being spied on more than anything else, literally. If you want to go to the University of the French West Indies but can't find any apartments outside of CROUS (student housing), I advise you not to go there, because it's absolutely not worth going there and ruining your mental health. Every single day, except weekends, I'm stressed because, "Are they going to come to my place AGAIN for no reason? Are they going to say this? Are they going to do that?" In short, I'm exhausted by it.

There is NO water (even when we buy a water tank BECAUSE THERE IS NO WATER, they show up at our accommodation as usual without warning and give us warnings because it's forbidden) 🤡 So, to sum up, there's been no water for several days even though it's YOUR fault, and on top of that, you forbid us from bringing our water tanks back. So what, I'm supposed to spend all my money on €4 packs of water just to have a basic toilet and survive?? This student residence is deplorable. Students, don't come here and go to mainland France because all they do is steal from students.
