La Dauphine Estate

FANTASTIC! Stayed at La Dauphine Estate as a family of 6 (4 adults and 2 children) in the main house, this was the first 5 days of our holiday before travelling up to Villa Beach Cottages. It was the perfect start to the trip and a fantastic base from which to explore the South of the island. We decided not to drive and Junior the taxi driver looked after us, making sure we visited all the best spots at the right times. The location of La Dauphine itself is beautiful, and to have the swimming pool is a real bonus. You really get the sense of peace and isolation and waking up in the rainforest is something I wont forget. If you are interested in bird life there is a lot to see including many types of hummingbird! The house is very clean and has everything you need, we had some shopping ordered for when we arrived as there are no shops or restaurants you'd be able to walk to in the evening. After reading reviews we made sure to arrange some of Antonia's home made Creole meals and wow, what a treat, so full of flavour! Charles, who manages the estate gave us an interesting talk on the history of the property and talked us through all the plants and fruit that grow here. Our son really enjoyed picking grapefruit and oranges for breakfast. There is plenty of space in the house and the beds we found very comfortable, it would easily accommodate a bigger party as we did not really use the upstairs room that has three additional beds. This is a really special place that I would love to visit again one day.

Antonia is wonderful, gracious and a great cook. Location is beautiful with lots of flora and fauna. Improvements: could be great if cleanliness improved. Fans have years of dust; corners of floors dirty; dead bugs in shower: green towels have bleach stains, old quilts on beds. This place deserves more!

No A/C. Internet awful. Good zone but 20 minutes to the beach. Expensive

A truly wonderful experience, it has now become our little get away spot! The pool is amazing and I just love being surrounded by nature. Perfect for a family escape! We're now been to La Dauphine about 4 times and will definitely be back!!

Me and my husband recently had our honeymoon here and absolutely loved it! We signed up for their package split between the villa beach cottages, and the dauphine estates- perfect combo if your looking for relaxing at a beach and adventure all in one. Being from Texas I was a little skeptical when I heard no air conditioning was included but it was perfect! The dauphine is located in the rainforest so it was very comfortable and beautiful scenery all around to enjoy. Charles and Antonia were amazing! They have so much knowledge of the island and we're so helpful w everything. I highly reccomend this package duo if I you want something relaxing, adventurous, or both! There is also a restaurant down the road where to staff is very friendly and fun (and a little cheaper than restaurants in town) if you want to get away and have a few drinks or eat. We definitely recommend this place for a family trip or a getaway for 2!
