A few things to know about Shanna’s Cove. They really don’t like kids. We were upfront when booking that we’d be traveling with our son, but he was made to feel like a total burden the entire time. He couldn’t order anything without noticeable judgment from the owners. At one point, one of the owners came over and scolded him for having his knees up on his chest, then physically pushed his legs down, saying, “You are in a restaurant.” When he accidentally broke a mug, her reaction was extreme—she started slamming a bread basket down, creating a tense and uncomfortable scene. The entire room felt it, and other guests even seemed to rally to our defense. It was completely unnecessary. Another ongoing issue was how controlling they were about meals. We were constantly asked to choose our meals days in advance—at breakfast, we’d be asked what we wanted for dinner the next day—and then judged for our choices. For example, when I ordered a salad with a sandwich, I was questioned: “You want a salad too?” Yes… I’m on vacation. The cost breakdown is also important to understand. The room itself was about $200 per night, but food for a 24-hour period—just three meals—came to around $600. This is far from typical for the area and felt especially excessive considering we brought our own beer and snacks. It became clear they rely heavily on food charges, which may explain why they are so rigid and controlling about meal planning. We raised these concerns with them directly. While they offered many explanations, they never apologized or took accountability for their behavior. It’s also worth noting the staffing dynamic. Front-of-house staff appeared to be German, while housekeeping and kitchen staff were Bahamian. We interacted with both, and the latter did not seem to be treated particularly well—you can usually sense when people are unhappy. Edit: After posting this review, I read the owner’s response. Their reaction only reinforced our experience. They characterized this as “slander” while misrepresenting or outright denying nearly every point. For clarity: they did not help book our charter, there were no noise complaints or issues raised by other guests, and while there was a German waiter who served breakfast, that detail alone doesn’t negate the overall experience described above. The tone and defensiveness of their response speak for themselves. There are many better options on the island that are warm, welcoming, and locally owned. We chose to spend the rest of our trip at Rollezz, which was a much more positive experience. Based on what we went through, I would strongly recommend steering clear of Shanna’s Cove.

Came by boat to eat lunch at the restaurant on the hill overlooking the Bay. The food was great, attention from the owner perfect. We ate lunch there two days in a row. It was the fourth time being there and hopefully I’ll get back again.

The kindest people work here, they let my family in to have lunch even when they were closed. Amazing food, beautiful views, and one of the best beaches on the island! Cannot recommend enough.

What an amazing place, simply stunning. Everything about Shannas Cove is perfect, the view, the beach, the food, the atmosphere, the staff, I could go on and on. For such an spectacular location to have such delicious food, stellar customer service, and friendly staff is mind boggling. Gregor & Maria were so sweet and made us feel like we were visiting old friends. Gregor warmly welcomed us when we arrived and has the most infectious laugh. Maria's meals are out of this world and she tells the best stories. Together they are the cutest couple, so full of fun and energy. You can tell how much love they put into their resort, the whole place is so warm and cozy that it makes you feel right at home. We will definitely be back every year if not more. This place has no right being as amazing as it is. A true gem on an already amazing island.

~(January 2025) EDITING over a YEAR later- because we had our WEDDING here in December 2024! I cannot even explain how magical the day was. They worked SO hard to make it so beautiful, and it really shows! We stayed for 9 days and we never wanted to leave. This time once again will stay with us and be something we replay over and over just in awe of how amazing it was! If you're trying to decide where to go in the Bahamas to have your wedding- definitely consider Shannas Cove! You won't regret it! ~ (May 2023) This beach is STUNNING!!!! We stayed just on a short vacation and definitely want to go back! Maria and Greg are absolutely amazing and so fun to be around. They really make you feel at home while you are in Paradise!! The laughs we shared are something I will never forget! My boyfriend proposed while on the beach and they made the night so special for us- I can never thank them enough!!
