The Dig at Atlantis Bahamas is one of the resort’s most impressive attractions, blending a large-scale aquarium with immersive storytelling inspired by the lost city of Atlantis. As you walk through its winding corridors, you’re surrounded by beautifully designed stonework, glowing tunnels, and massive viewing windows that showcase sharks, rays, eels, and hundreds of tropical fish. The atmosphere feels both mysterious and calming, with soft lighting and underwater sound effects that make the experience feel like a journey through an ancient world. Guests often stop for long stretches at the larger tanks, watching marine life glide past in peaceful patterns. The Dig is especially enjoyable for families, couples, and anyone who appreciates ocean life, offering a slower-paced alternative to the resort’s high-energy water attractions.
The exhibit is designed with plenty of space to explore, making it easy to move at your own pace without feeling rushed. Informational plaques and interactive displays help explain the species you’re seeing, adding an educational layer that appeals to both kids and adults. The marine habitats are well-maintained, and the clarity of the tanks makes viewing effortless and immersive. Many visitors enjoy taking photos here because the lighting and scenery create dramatic, aquarium-style backdrops. The Dig also connects to other marine areas within Atlantis, allowing guests to continue exploring without leaving the theme. Whether you’re visiting during the day or in the evening, the experience feels consistently smooth and enjoyable.
The Dig stands out as a must-do attraction because it offers a unique blend of fantasy, marine biology, and resort-level design. It’s a great option for guests who want a relaxing break from slides and pools, and it’s especially appealing on days when you want something indoors and air-conditioned. Most visitors spend one to two hours here, taking time to enjoy each tank and the detailed theming throughout the exhibit. With its beautiful visuals, peaceful atmosphere, and strong educational value, The Dig earns a high rating and remains one of the most memorable experiences at Atlantis Bahamas.

Cute aquarium, included in your stay at Atlantis. I wouldn't pay extra to visit it though. It didn't change at all since I last saw it at 2009. Some places had leaks and water pooled up on the floor. Regardless, kids enjoyed it.

Over $300 for 2 non-hotel guests that had to buy day-passes is insane. While the day-pass gives access to other areas of Atlantis, it's not worth it. The aquarium ("The Dig") was great to see for the first time, but most definitely not worth the price. Takes only 20-30 minutes to walk through and that includes standing to observe the fish. The aquarium itself needs major updating and cleaning, water was not clear like you'd expect and there were several dead fish at the bottom. You can tell it's not longer a main focus for the hotel and more of a revenue generator. They even hide the parts of the aquarium you should see from the lobby of the hotel behind those ugly black curtain barriers - making you pay to see something that was clearly built into the beauty of the building itself. Beautiful to see once, but it's unfortunate to say that I will definitely not pay for that again. Management should be embarrassed.

Beautiful aquarium that keeps the same sunken post city of Atlantis through and through. Lots of native Caribbean fish, rays, sharks, etc to see. There’s even some huge crustaceans. We spent a lot of time just looking at everything and if you have kids I would give a time allowance of about 1.5 hrs. It brings you right out to the beach area so if you want to do it on your way to the beach in your bathing suits or even lunch down there by shake shack would be a good idea.

The Dig Aquarium is an incredible experience, offering a below-the-water view of a wide variety of fish habitats. Our daughter absolutely loved walking through The Dig each morning on our way to the pools, and it quickly became one of her favorite parts of the day. It’s easy to overlook, but if you’re in the main lobby, just take the stairs to the lowest level and you’ll find the entrance. It’s a magical underwater world that shouldn’t be missed, especially if you’re already exploring the resort. A hidden gem that adds to the overall Atlantis experience!
