The Monkey Club at Sandy Lane

Last night my wife and I enjoyed a truly wonderful dinner at the Monkey Club at Sandy Lane, and what an enjoyable evening it was. The newly renovated restaurant is absolutely beautiful and perfectly situated oceanfront, providing the ideal setting to enjoy an incredible Barbados sunset. The food was outstanding from start to finish. My wife had the beetroot salad followed by the Miso-glazed black cod, both of which she thoroughly enjoyed. I started with the tuna tartare and followed with the Golden Honey Chilean sea bass — both dishes were exceptional and prepared perfectly. To finish the evening, we shared their incredible Banana Split with a rich chocolate rum sauce, which was a fantastic dessert and the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the excellent food, the service was warm, attentive, and simply first class. During our stay, our two favorite dining experiences were The Tides and The Monkey Club. As for The Cliff? Save your money and come here instead. In fact, we met several guests who told us they had already dined at Monkey Club twice during their stay because they enjoyed the overall experience so much. The Monkey Club delivered on every level — atmosphere, food, service, and setting. We completely understand why guests return again and again, and we certainly will too. Highly recommended.

My birthday visit to Sandy Lane was a complete disaster. Not only did the resort fail to acknowledge my celebration in any way, but the restaurant is operating what can only be described as a billing scam. We were charged $310, and despite showing the waitress immediate, verified proof from our banking app that the transaction was successful, she became aggressive and refused to let us leave. We were essentially forced to pay a second time just to exit. I now have clear evidence of a double charge on my statement. After looking into this further, it is clear I am not the only one. Other diners have reported similar issues with the bill here that always seem to favor the establishment. This appears to be a systemic issue where staff ignores proof of payment to force multiple transactions. For a high-end resort, this behavior is predatory and the service is sub-par. If you value your money and your peace of mind, eat elsewhere. Check your bank statements immediately if you have already dined here.

This place is one of the MOST OVER RATED restaurants in Barbados, The service is beyond appalling 45 mins to serve a cocktail!!! The food is basic at best VERY expensive for what you get!. Avoid if you can

Shame on you Sandy Lane!! Check your bills people - they made intentional errors which we found difficult to see how it could’ve been an accident. This is poor show - any decent establishment won’t use these tactics. Food was very good, but of course very expensive. Won’t be coming back.

Sandy lane is a beautiful resort. However, the food at monkey club was not very good. Fish was very bland. Desserts were not good. Chocolate cake not good, the vanilla ice cream did not taste like vanilla. The appetizers also not good. They need a new Chef.
