From the moment we checked in, the hospitality was genuinely warm. The staff here don't just provide service—they connect with you.
A huge shoutout to the Beach and Pool Ambassadors who kept the rum punches flowing seamlessly without us ever having to ask. The front desk and concierge team were incredibly attentive, helping us seamlessly map out our dinner reservations and water taxi schedules right at arrival. It is a smaller boutique property, and that intimacy shines through in how the staff remembers your name, your favorite drinks, and your preferences. They truly made our stay unforgettable.

This hotel is located between Bridgetown and Holetown, on the west coast. It has easy access to public transit, which is safe and reliable. It is a short ride to the shops of Holetown and the action of The Gap.
Such an easy check in with Anisha and Zoe. All the lobby staff were helpful and kind.
Lovely, peaceful location with a tiny beach that is very calm, sandy and swimmable.
Akil, the beach bartender is wonderful and consistently provides excellent service.
The lobby bartender had many amazing staff, but Jamar stood out for his friendliness…. really, all the staff were amazing and friendly.
The beachfront rooms have an amazing, unobstructed view from floor 1-3. Avoid floor 0 as these rooms look out to the common area patio, affording no privacy.
Poolside rooms look out to the adults only pool and are very quiet and peaceful.
There were only two issues that we disliked about the hotel. Each meal ends with a fake bill that itemizes what you have, a cost and then asks for your room number and gratuity. When I am on vacation, I prefer to tip in cash, to the staff that I find helpful. I do not want to see a bill when I just spent over $6000 to stay here.
The concierge, Antwon, was perhaps the most negative concierge I have encountered at any of the hundreds of hotels I have stayed at. Everything about his body language, eye rolling, hair tossing and so on screamed disrespect.
I can appreciate that he is a religious person and, “Lives for God”, but he had a negative attitude towards nightlife and drinking. His entire demeanor around these issues was offensive to us. We wanted information about a tour and all he did was write our names down, hand us the bill and shared no information about what was included…. completely unhelpful. He also seemed to be upset that tourists can partake in duty free shopping. Concierge is not a job for him.
If you want a nice clean, quiet place to stay and enjoy swimming, friendly staff and beautiful sunsets, this is the place.

First, I want to say that EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER was AMAZING… Truly, the level of service was unparalleled. Each member greeted us both by name, they went above and beyond to be kind and helpful. The unfortunate nature of my review is due to the property location, condition, and amenities as it relates to the cost. I must say that I used points for our stay that took years to accumulate, and their equivalent in dollars puts this property in a high per night price tier. We first stayed at the Colony Club, which is another Marriott property, north of this property by ~30 minutes. The Colony Club was very expensive (~$30 USD for fries and a Shirley Temple…), but superb. The beach and water were amazing. We even saw a West African Monkey onsite, which was a treat (though nothing the property could take credit for).
When we transferred to the Waves, it was in the middle of a noisy, busy commercial/residential area. Half of the resort (the adult half) was across the busy street, and the beach half of the property was incredibly limited in its amenities. Both are directly on the road. The beach side is supposed to be the family side of the property, and the pool was next to the road with constant road noise and exhaust fumes and measured approximately 10 x 20‘. It was very small and nothing “family” about it. There was a small café and a restaurant on the beach side, and one Indian restaurant on the adult side.
The food was fantastic, but when we walked down to the beach, we realized that the water comes directly up to the property and so there really is no beach to speak of. It’s a very small alcove with limited space and somewhat rocky beach. Outside of this, there was no place to “be.” They were kind enough to upgrade us to a room facing the ocean, (which I believe they all are…). I believe the bed was smaller than a king size bed, the bathroom was very small and not in great repair. The pillows were clumpy, and the bed was hard. There was very little water pressure. Marriott prides itself in its consistency across brands, and this one misses the mark as an autograph collection property.
Unfortunately, there’s no strict smoking policy, so everywhere we went we were confronted with other people‘s smoke. Additionally, and perhaps due to the location of our room, music blared from approximately 7 PM until 10 PM. If this were positioned as a budget property, and if Marriott did a better job at describing the layout, I would have felt better informed. As a travel agency owner, my level of disappointment was high, and I do blame myself for not contacting the property in advance to learn more about what may or may not be offered. We chose to change properties the next morning after one night. I would like to thank the staff again for being so kind and courteous and gracious in understanding our decision to leave.

We had the best time at the Waves, all of the staff were so friendly and felt like friends by the time we left! The room was lovely, as were the facilities and the food which was varied and really tasty! The location, set literally on the seafront is really special, with incredible views across the ocean, unbeatable sunsets and fantastic ocean swimming, snorkelling and watersports. Huge thanks to the whole team from Jed & Jan (Mumma J). We’d both highly recommend.

I loved my stay at Waves. The experience starts with a welcome cocktail while they get you checked in. I found the staff to be welcoming and extremely helpful giving me recommendations for activities and information on getting around the island. As a solo traveler they also made me feel safe. The cocktails and food were also pretty good for all inclusive. The view of the ocean is to die for from the dining area. My only complaint is the mattress being firm. All in all I’d definitely recommend this hotel for your Barbados stay.
