Just incredible.
Had a morning lesson with only 3 in our group. Throughout the land instruction and out on the water, Matt was an ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL teacher. He had me riding the first wave attempted right on into the shallows.
Matt's got this fantastic ability to see exactly what went wrong when you've bailed, and give spot-on advice to make the next wave better. And after a good one, he's got just the right little extra thing for you to try so you keep building skills. He'll teach you how to pick the good ones, and when you're ready to do it, how to catch one unassisted.
I can not believe how much I learned in only 2 hours. It's been 4 days since my lesson, and I can't stop thinking about it.
One tiny little thing..... If you're picking out one if their sweet shirts in the shop after, pick a size up. Seems they're not made from pre-shrunk cotton, and I was crushed to take mine out of the laundry today to find it's now to small.
Still love you guys so much. I'll be back to rent a board for sure 😎🤙

I really enjoyed my session with Barry’s Surf Barbados Surf School. It’s been about 10 years since I’ve surfed regularly and it was a perfect way to reacquaint myself with the water and some beyond basics skills to improve my surfing and experience. Matt and (Josh?) were great instructors who effectively balanced teaching some brand new surfers as well a couple of us with more experience to ensure that everyone had a great, fulfilling experience. I felt like the instructors took the time to evaluate me in between helping new surfers with catching their first waves. I walked away with some great pointers to improve my surfing and really appreciated the opportunity to grow my skillset. I’d recommend it to anyone for their first time or anyone looking to shake the rust off and get back into the pastime that we love. 🤙🏽

This is a great school for surfing. Everyone at Barrys are super friendly and experienced surfers. We had some prior experience of surfing and took six lessons. They quickly noticed our individual skill level and helped us progress a lot. I highly recommend taking lessons from these guys if you are starting surfing or just want to improve. Thanks for a great time guys!

Higly recommend a visit if in Barbados! We scheduled 5 sessions for our trip to the gap and ended up going for a 6th improvised session for a final day at the Island. Felt safe at every session and I got personalized feedback to improve my skills tremendously in just a week. Knowledgeable personal who makes you feel like family from day 1. Repeat: HIGHLY recommend 🫶

Just got back from a short trip to Barbados for first time. Wife and I stayed at the O2 right next door and airlines lost my surfboards. I ran into Barry’s and met Barry himself. He quickly rented me a board, recommended surf spots, was helpful and just a nice zen dude. He saved my surf trip and I look forward to renting from him again. In fact never need to bring a board to Barbados ever again, I’ll just rent from Barry.
