Beautiful coastline and views. We stopped on our drive around the northern part of the island and were the only ones visiting the Volcanic runoff site. Several ladies were selling souvenirs and the small bar offered cold drinks too. There are public bathrooms as well. The path down to the coast line has steps made out of concrete filled old tires. Be sure to walk down to the shoreline. The vendors told us this site is visited heavily when cruise are in port.

Black Rocks in St. Kitts is a unique place that I actually liked very much. We added this stop to our island road trip after docking at the cruise port in early January. We took the road on the west side of the island, went up to the top where you can see the neighboring Dutch island to the north, and then drove back down on the east side to stop at the Black Rocks. As we arrived (a little early), we saw many stalls selling different kinds of things, and the vendors felt friendly and relaxed: clothes, souvenirs, magnets, maps, Hawaiian shirts, hats, and more. As you walk past these vendor stalls along a small sidewalk, you reach the overlook where you can see the Black Rocks from above. From the overlook, it does not seem like a big deal at first. It just looks like a bunch of black rocks and boulders, so you might wonder what the fuss is about. The waves and the overall view are cool to watch but from the overlook alone, there is not much more to it. If you want the real experience, go down to the rocks, which you cannot do directly from the overlook. In the middle of the vendor stalls there is an opening that leads to a small path down the slope. The path is made of stacked tires that act like simple stairs, and you follow them all the way down to the rocks. Once you get down there, it becomes really cool. You do have to be careful though because the rocks are broken pieces of boulders and stone, and they can easily hurt you if you are not paying attention. But if you are a little adventurous, you can find some great spots to sit and relax. You will notice barnacles, and inside many of the holes in the rocks there are small white sea snails just chilling there. As you walk around between the rocks (carefully again), you find places that feel surprisingly tranquil, even though the waves of the sea are constantly crashing and splashing against the rocks around you. One of the best things about this spot is how few people go down there. It feels like a hidden place where you can just escape for a bit. While I was walking around on the rocks, a bird suddenly flew past me, as if it had just jumped off a rock right above my head. I looked up, climbed up the rock a little, and found a small bird’s nest tucked into the rock with two tiny eggs in it. How wonderful is that? I had only seen things like that on National Geographic before. Being alone out there on the rocks, just exploring and enjoying the place, and then suddenly discovering something so beautiful and pristine really made my day. Overall, Black Rocks in St. Kitts is a great spot and highly recommended. If you do not have much time, you can make a quick stop, take a look, and move on. But if you do have the time, I highly recommend staying for a while. Sit there, watch the sea, watch the tropical almond trees with their little fruits and just enjoy the place. It is a really cool spot.

Beautiful ocean view of black volcanic rocks and ocean waves. Mesmerizing!! Has a deck extended out to make the viewing even better. Wasn't too bad with crowds while we were there. Restrooms are available here.

Worth the drive! There are lots of little tourists shops with reasonably priced souvenirs. I recommend doing any souvenir shopping here.

Amazing!! Visited on a Sunday around noon and we had the whole place to ourselves. There’s the viewing decks and you can also walk down a path of tires to the lava field itself. The path is located between some of the shops to the left-hand side, walking towards the viewing deck. There’s also some picnic tables with a stunning view. Watch your head walking down the path! There’s a low hanging branch that I hit my head on SO hard while paying attention to my footing 😆 Free to visit. Lots of parking on a slow day. Lots of souvenir shops, but only 1 was open on a Sunday.
