Modern ferry terminal. Expect arrival delays of 30 minutes for immigration. On the way out you need to be there 45 minutes ahead of the 17:15 cutoff as there is a bottleneck at the departure tax so the queue is very slow. Tickets are cash only at the desk. Departure tax took card. We dropped our rental car at 16:30 at the parking lot and were the second last people on the ferry, boarded at 17:14 and departed at 17:17 . I can only assume that they sent another ferry for the more than 60 people still inside.

The ride from Saint Martin to Anguilla using the public ferry was about 20/25 minutes. We paid for the ferry at the Saint Martin port which cost $30US and paid $7 euros at customs departure tax. (One way Fee). It has to be cash at the customs. The ferry payment was collected while the boat was leaving the port which meant you had to pay in cash as well. I saw one instance where a couple didn’t have cash and they let them ride to Anguilla then got a card reader and let them pay while in the customs line. We were based on the Dutch side so had to drive to Saint Martin to catch the ferry. We were able to park on the street in Marigot since it was a day trip. We didn’t have a problem finding parking because it was a Sunday and we went a bit early. Around 9:30 Am. We were able to get on the 10:30 am ferry. It’s a bit more expensive paying customs from the Anguilla side traveling back to the Saint Martin. I believe customs charge based on which port you will be are entering. Customs was not long as we were the last to enter after staying back to take pictures at I love Anguilla sign. The beaches are good places to visit on Sundays but other places in Anguilla were closed. There are rental shops available after you clear customs or taxis that you can use. It’s cheaper to rent a vehicle than using taxi. They drive on the left side of the road and our vehicle was a right had drive. It cost us about $80 for the day to rent the vehicle. We had the vehicle reserve for us by someone on the Saint Martin side that also rents vehicle. Using private ferry is way more expensive.

This is more a throw back photo log of my visit in 2004, came upon my pictures from then and thought to share. I'm sure Anguilla has changed considerably. My stay was at Rendezvous Bay resort owned and operated by Jeremiah Gumbs, and I had the pleasure and honor to meet this great patriarch of this island. He unfortunately passed during our visit. Meet Bankie Banks, I feel so fortunate to have been able to see and feel the vibe of this island when I did truly something I will never forget. ENJOY the throw back pics..
