The oldest botanical gardens in Western hemisphere. Very well maintained. Our visit was very relaxing. It’s a pleasant walk through the city to get here from a cruise terminal. We were visiting with a baby stroller and it was quite easy to navigate. There are benches in the shadow of the trees to have some relaxing stops. We also liked the area with parrots indigenous to the island. We were lacking a good refreshment and souvenir shop, the one on side was not very well equipped.

The Botanical Gardens in Kingstown, Saint Vincent, are the oldest in the Western Hemisphere (established in 1765) and remain one of the island’s most popular attractions, open daily from 7 AM to 6 PM with affordable entry fees. They are especially famous for conserving the rare St. Vincent Parrot (Amazona guildingii) and showcasing tropical plants from around the world. Popular for events and photography and videos

so incredibly awesome!!! super cool plants and trees. very peaceful environment, lots of shade. the st. Vincent parrots were very cute. wonderful little adventure through the gardens. 5USD per person, optional 6USD per person for a tour which we did not do. Wish more of the plants/trees had signage, but it was still a super cool experience.

Visited today, what a beautiful lush tropical paradise! The guided tour is an absolute must to know about various trees and shrubs and learn the history of this place, highly recommend! Our guide Jeffery was amazing!

(02/2026) A nicely maintained historic garden suitable for a short walk (approx. 30 minutes). Unfortunately, only a small number of plants are labeled and there are very few informational signs. The entrance fee is USD 5 per person, and a guide is available for USD 6 / 15 EC$ per hour. Clean restrooms are available.
The parrot cages could use improvement, as they look worn and lack enrichment elements (branches, greenery, swings). The sight of the parrots was heartbreaking.
