This excursion was not fun and I would never do it again. I have been on boats with 30 people and had a great time but this experience was a massive downgrade. Our boat had 50 people on it and there was a second boat with another 50 people all going to the same place. We joined several other tours at the sandbar which made the whole thing feel like a circus. They had everyone form a circle to keep the stingrays from getting away while the guides picked them up for photos. If you want to observe animals in a natural way this is not the right tour for you. The boat was old and very loud and the water was also too rough to enjoy any actual snorkeling.

I recently booked the “Reef Snorkel & Stingray Sandbar” excursion through Norwegian Cruise Line while sailing on the Norwegian Encore, and the experience was extremely disappointing and raised serious safety concerns. The boat was overcrowded with 50+ people leaving many of us standing the entire time, and there was no bathroom available during the four-hour trip. The stingray interaction was poorly managed, with only one stingray for the entire group, meaning many people didn’t get the experience that was advertised. Smoking was also allowed onboard, which made the environment uncomfortable for non-smokers. The snorkeling portion was misleading—we were taken to Coral Gardens, a very small area, rather than the larger barrier reef that was in the excursion description. Communication was also an issue, as the boat driver did not speak English, making it difficult to address concerns. Most alarming was the transportation, which appeared unsafe, as the clutch repeatedly failed and the driver had to pull over multiple times. Overall, this excursion did not match what was advertised, and it’s concerning that a provider like this is being offered through a major cruise line without more oversight.
