Chez Mango was excellent. It's super close to the exclusion zone, beaches, and a short drive to local restaurants. The room was spacious, and clean. And relaxing in the pool was perfect. The owner, Gary, is aces. He is ready to help with recommendations for food, sights, and even tours and permits for the exclusion zone! Would 100% visit again.

My family and I visited Montserrat over the holidays and had an incredible time. Traveling with a toddler can sometimes be a challenge, but Chez Mango made everything so easy—truly accommodating and the perfect place for our family. Gary was exceptional—always available, responsive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience from start to finish. The location is ideal, just 5 minutes from the beach and about a 10–15 minute walk to great food options. We cooked breakfast at home everyday , which the kitchen inside of the suite was great. Before you head to hotel make sure to hit the supermarket for all your supplies. We visited during the island’s biggest holiday, with most events happening in the North (an easy taxi ride). The final festival events took place in Salem, just 10 minutes from the hotel—which was absolutely amazing and so convenient. We’re already planning to make this an annual trip, and we’ll definitely be staying here again!

My daughter and I had a suite here for two nights and definitely plan to stay here again. The hosts were kind, warm, and gracious, picking us up on time from the airport and stopping at a store for us to get groceries. When they found out I was a vegetarian, the host’s lovely wife cooked me a vegetarian meal and left it in our suite—so kind! Montserrat is known worldwide for the warmth of its people, and the owners of the villa represented that kindness wonderfully. Super people. On to the place itself—the villa is gorgeous with a beautiful view of the ocean and lush greenery all around. There are a couple things you can walk to: the beach, possibly a restaurant, but things were closed for Christmas when we were there. It’s best to shop en route from the airport and just prepare meals in the kitchen—it had everything we needed had we stayed longer and cooked. The suite was clean and comfortable and AC worked :) We want to return to Montserrat and will likely stay here again! We had a great experience!

The negative reviews are 100% accurate and the owners responses to them should tell you everything you need to know. Unfortunately I booked through a travel agent, had I seen the reviews and responses myself I would never had stayed here. I very nearly flew straight back to Antigua when I arrived there but couldn’t justify the additional expenses. Pretty much everyone I’ve spoken to since both in Montserrat and at my last hotel in Antigua know about the reputation of this place. I also booked their jeep tour because it was recommended on visit Montserrat, I will be contacting them to tell them to remove this vendor before any further damage to the reputation of the island. Cockroaches, No proper curtains, Dirty towels No fire alarm Same door code on multiple rooms No working seat belts in the jeep No horn working on the jeep Before that scam artists bothers to complain that I didn’t raise the issues with him, I don’t think I should have to tell you to sweep up dead roaches before a guests arrival or to fit smoke alarms. Given your replies to other guests, it seemed pointless and as a woman travelling alone I didn’t want to get into a contentious situation with someone who has open doors codes to all their rooms. I will also be advising the travel agent to remove it from their books also. I can only describe this as being run by a slumlord, i would have had a better time if id been staying on Mama Morton’s cell block.

Gary is a great host and Chez Mango embodies his motto "welcome to paradise". The villa is an escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of ordinary life. It is nestled in the beautiful hills of Monsterrat with great views. Gary pulls out all the stops to make guests feel at home. I highly recommend Chez Mango.
