The PADI Rescue Diver course was, without a doubt, the most valuable certification I’ve completed so far. It challenged me mentally and physically while teaching skills that every diver should have.
What really made this course stand out was the way my instructor, Earl Martindale, structured the training. We would first learn and practice each rescue skill until we were comfortable with it. Then we’d go on a fun dive, knowing that at some point one of those rescue scenarios could happen without warning. I never knew when, so it forced me to stay aware of my surroundings and constantly monitor my buddy throughout the dive. That made the training feel incredibly realistic instead of just checking boxes.
The biggest thing I took away wasn’t just learning rescue techniques. It completely changed the way I dive. I now find myself constantly checking on my buddy, paying attention to their position, behavior, and overall safety. That level of awareness has made me a much better and more responsible dive buddy.
Earl explained everything clearly, kept the course challenging without making it stressful, and made learning enjoyable. Every scenario had a purpose, every dive built confidence, and I left the course feeling more prepared than ever before.
I honestly believe every recreational diver should take the Rescue Diver course, whether or not they plan to become a Divemaster. It will make you a safer diver, a better buddy, and much more prepared for real-world situations. I can’t recommend this course or Earl highly enough.

Our whale-watching tour with Dive Dominica was absolutely unforgettable! We saw two full-sized female whales up close — truly stunning. The three-hour tour was well organized, and the guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and let us listen to the whales’ clicks underwater. We got within about twenty feet and captured incredible tail-dive videos thanks to their perfect timing. A magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience — highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dominica!

We didn't see any whales but at we saw at least 150 dolphins. Great experience for the kids. Their first time on a boat in the ocean and their first time seeing dolphins in the wild. Waters can be choppy 🤢🤢🤢🤢 so be prepared. They have ginger candy and 🤮 bags.

When going on the Whale Watching tour with Dive Dominica you will get a highly professional crew that lives the way of the whale. You can tell they want do study and understand the animals, not hunt them for the cameras of tourists. They gave their best to find a surfacing whale and near the end we saw one! Big sperm whale taking a dive right in front of us!
Great tour on the water, worth every cent. Great people and really biiiig animals. 😉

Can't comment on lodging but had a great dive today. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, gear worked and a big cat dive boat. Recommend if you're looking for a place to dive. Grabbed lunch at restaurant and tuna was great and really good value.
