My daughter and I decided to visit the Foursquare Rum Distillery around 2 PM on a Wednesday, and it turned into one of those experiences we will always remember. Our taxi driver dropped us off at the entrance, and we quickly realized we were the only guests there. And oh boy, were we treated like royalty. It felt like a completely private VIP experience. We were welcomed with a delicious rum punch and then introduced to our tour guide, who we had entirely to ourselves. She was wonderful and did an excellent job walking us through the history of Foursquare, from its roots going back hundreds of years to the operation it is today. One thing that immediately stood out was how incredibly clean the entire distillery was. For a working production facility, it was impressively spotless, organized, and extremely well maintained. You could tell there was a real sense of pride in the operation. What made the tour so interesting was that it went far beyond simply explaining how rum is made. We learned about the history of the people, the beverage itself, the production process, and how rum has evolved into the modern world of marketing and sales. We also learned that Foursquare has its own water source right there on the property, which I found fascinating. Naturally, I had to ask our guide if we could actually taste the water. She delivered and brought us two bottles to try! And yes, we could absolutely taste a difference compared with the tap water at our resort. The Foursquare water had a slightly more mineral taste and was noticeably smooth. It was such a simple little moment, but it made the tour feel even more personal and memorable. We also learned that they try to use locally grown Barbadian sugar cane whenever possible, but the island simply does not produce enough to meet their needs, so much of the sugar cane comes from Trinidad. Then came the fun part, the rum tasting! We had the opportunity to sample several different styles and discovered just how much variety there is, from everyday rums commonly used for cooking and mixing to beautifully refined sipping rums. As with so many other places we visited during our time in Barbados, what really made the experience special was the Bajan vibe. Everyone was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely happy to share a little piece of Barbados with us. What started as a spontaneous afternoon visit turned into a fantastic private experience and one of the highlights of our trip. If you enjoy rum, history, or simply want to learn more about Barbados and its culture, Foursquare is absolutely worth a visit.

If you are a rum aficionado- this is a must see. Perfect dream day of rum tasting and touring on Barbados would consist of a tour of Mount Gay distillery to the North, Four Square to the South East and finish at Stades on the west side of the island. ( has a beach club). Foursquare is known for their high quality rums. Very nice to see in person. The tour is informative and educational.

The tour at Foursquare Rum Distillery was absolutely educational and engaging. Our guide, though fairly new, was incredibly knowledgeable about the history and process behind the distillery’s world-famous rums. We had the opportunity to sample seven different rums, each rich in flavor and crafted with precision—no sugar added, just pure quality. We even tasted the water produced on site, which added to the experience. This visit is a must for anyone traveling to Barbados, especially since it’s the rum capital of the West Indies.

Tamera was an amazing tour guide. She was able to explain all the history of rum and really got to understand the rum process. Best tour ever!!!

Such a beautiful place that is so quiet and relaxing. The rums they make are spectacular and taste amazing. The staff are very friendly and very knowledgeable in what you are tasting. We were recommended this tour by our wonderful taxi driver who picked us up from the airport and we then used her to take us on our aunts across the island. She even took us in to the reception and arranged our tour before collecting us when we'd finished.
