The area surrounding the battery is now covered with dense thorn bush and cactus, the paths are overgrown and you will need protective clothing to avoid lacerations. Due to the vegetation and later housing development, there is no longer a view to the south/west coast that the battery once protected. Not worth the effort quite honestly.

It’s so overgrown and neglected you can’t walk without getting cut on something. There’s no view anymore. We probably won’t be back anytime soon.

Amazing monument with a great history. Sadly, most of it has been forgotten. Awesome place for the more adventures explores.

Historical place in sanicolaas, although you should gather some info at the Anna ( historical musseum ) in front of beatrix aiport before going to kustbattery
