We came here for lunch on a Monday, when many restaurants in the area are closed. So, we were very grateful for Whitney’s hours of operation! The homemade burger and buns I had were delicious and the fries were perfect. My husband had the Fish and Chips, made with Lionfish. It was served lightly battered with coleslaw and a great tartar sauce. It was his first taste of Lionfish but not his last! He was very happy he chose this dish. We also had the homemade cheesecake. WOW. Really great flavors! Whitney was very gracious and friendly during our stay. Service was wonderful and we would highly recommend Maford House Cafe. Can’t wait to return!

The Fish and Chips really hit the spot, topped only by the cheesecake tart and Sonia's super friendly service, smile, and warmth. Whitney's playlist added to the island / western ambiance.
The outdoor seating area has a lot of potential and with some elbow grease could really be transformed into a very special lounge.

Several places in town were closed at lunchtime, we were happy to find this place open, and with a decent restroom. The proprietor here is very pleasant, nice and welcoming, she is a one person operation (at least when we visited), despite having her hands full she served us quickly. We noticed one indoor table near the front door ordering area, but we opted to sit outside near the water at the picnic tables which were clean. You sit amongst several roaming chickens (roosters and hens, “kampong” or village chickens as Malaysians would say), did not bother us and could be fun for kids, but maybe some people would be put off by that. We ordered the fish and chips and the burger. Fish and chips were just okay, we weren’t sure if it was fresh fish that was breaded on site, maybe, or to us it seemed more like a frozen item prepared decently. The hamburger was disappointing, while the tomato slice was very nice and the bun okay, I felt the patty was a cereal-added-not-so-much-actual-beef recently frozen thing. It was not a juicy beef hamburger taste. Briefly I wondered is this a veggie patty by mistake? We saw ground beef in the grocery store here, wonder could the hamburger patty be made here with 100% ground beef given the bit high-ish price charged? Also, we did not see the price of the items before we bought them, I don’t think prices are posted here, thus I suspected it would be a bit high and it was in my view, maybe some yacht owners come here and don’t sweat the price. Our total bill was $36 US including a water and a Coke, not so bad but it felt on the high side for the quality. To be clear, we did not have a bad experience here, just surprised by the hamburger patty that’s all.

Stop what you’re doing, right NOW. Whitney, an amazing Canadian woman with 30 years of Dominica life and work under her belt, is not to be misjudged. This woman can straight up COOK! You want the best fish and chips of your life? Do you? Well my friends, best come in with a smile and empty stomach because this island queen is going to rock your world. Oh, and if ocean views, cold beer, and charming wit from chef Whitney are your vibe, the accoutrement that comes with the food is 10/5 stars. All hail the QUEEN!

After hiking on the Waitukubuli Trail for 10 days Whitney’s place on the beach was a perfect place to stop!! The food was fantastic and the beers were extra cold! We even had some of her cheese cakes for desert and they were delicious as well. We enjoyed it so much we made sure to visit the Maford House a couple of times!
