Not many race horses on a Saturday. Apparently, thursdays and Sundays are the days with most race horses. It's a weird feeling to see so many tourists riding and taking pictures with the horses, almost feels like it's a circus. I was there just to watch. From what I understand, most of the horses available to ride/take pictures are still race horses from the Garrison, they are simply more calm. The owners of the horses allow locals to borrow the horses to make a living by charging $ to ride or take pictures. There is a nice lady with a coffee stand called PUC that serves banana bread, had a lovely conversation with her.

This was one of the most unique and memorable experiences I had in Barbados. Many guides online say to get there between 6 am and 7 am to see the horses in the water, but for anyone who likes to sleep in, here is some good news. I arrived just before 8 am and there were still plenty of horses being bathed and exercised in the sea. The setting is calm and beautiful, with locals tending to the racehorses as the morning sun reflects off the water. It is a perfect spot for photos, even if you do not plan to ride.
Be cautious about prices. One of the men on the beach told me it would cost 50 or 60 US dollars to ride or swim with a horse, but most travelers and online reviews mention that the usual price is closer to 25 or 30 US dollars. It helps to ask and confirm the cost first. Even if you only watch from the shore, it is fascinating to see the horses being led into the sea for their morning routine. The experience feels genuine and relaxed, not commercial or forced. I strongly recommend visiting, even just to enjoy the sunrise, meet the locals, and take stunning photos of horses swimming in clear Caribbean water.

An unforgettable experience at Pebbles Beach! Swimming with the horses at sunrise was truly magical. The handlers were professional, friendly, and clearly cared for the well-being of the animals. Walking along the beach with these beautiful horses and then seeing them enjoy the water was something special. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the setting was absolutely stunning. If you’re in Barbados, this is a must-do activity! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience.

Between 6:30 - 7:30 a.m.
You can take a picture with the horses on the beach or put on your swimsuit and sit on one in the water.
Bring cash to tip.

Quite something to see, doesn't have to cost you anything unless you want to ride a horse.
