Pelican Center
Opened in 1999, Pelican Village Craft Centre is an attractive, spacious shopping village offering the very best of local handicrafts and providing the opportunity to see Barbados' craftsmen at work. Located on the outskirts of the capital city of Bridgetown, Pelican Village is the first stop for cruise visitors as they disembark at the Harbour. With ample parking and within easy reach of the west and south coasts, long-stay visitors should also plan a trip to the Village. Pelican Village Craft Centre is named after Pelican Island, a small island which existed off Barbados before being incorporated into the Deep Water Harbour.

Quite ok place to shop souvenirs and have some refreshments when going back from Bridgetown to the ship or just while visiting the town. The village is well maintained and the houses have beautiful Caribbean colors. The village is quite empty and I think it needs more advertising. Not all shops were open during our visit but there was still quite some options to buy souvenirs, it was a good alternative to port duty free even if I recommend to look for a port stores as well as they have good selection. The village also has few places to eat and we found nice terrace to have refreshment in the late afternoon. The area closes a bit too early especially on cruise days when the visitors are coming back to the ship later in the afternoon. The opening hours should adapt to it if the sellers want to have more visitors. The prices were typical for Caribbean souvenirs, no deal breakers I’d say. But the drinks were well priced.
