I visited the church on three occasions, two funerals and a church fair. The church surroundings are clean and welcoming, and the priest seems very down to earth. She involves the congregation when she is preaching and seems very matter of fact. One of those funerals was one of my sisters, sad occasion, but her send-off was what my sister would have loved from the small choir in attendance (let me say, small but they understood the assignment)to the organist. He made the organ come alive to a packed church who really appreciated it. I would visit again this time to attend the church service.

The main access road to the church and the school next door is horrible. It is lined by sugar cane fields on both sides, with no curbs or sidewalks and you must be careful even walking on it. The actual church is very well maintained and the church yard is very tidy and filled with beautiful hedges and flowering plants along the walkways. The trip across the bumpy road is well worth it.

I have a very historic and spiritual affinity with St. Luke's Church. My ancestors, many of them that came from Africa as slaves and worked for the plantations, primarily "Brighton". Many of them were baptized and burried at St. Luke's Church. My mother in 1992, and my great, great grand father in 1917. Public acces to the church is now much improved. The roads have been repaired and totally paved, the truly legitimate frustration that I and many others had about the terrible condition of the road leading to the church is now a problem of the pass. "I have considered every soul resting in the St. Luke's Church grave yard as belonging to my ancestral family", this place have an interesting history and I see and feel it every time that I visit Barbados.
