We were extremely disappointed with our day experience at The Dunmore.
We visited with our two young children, ages 1 and 3, and enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the restaurant, spending a significant amount during our visit. After lunch, we walked to the beach for about 30 minutes dio. When we arrived, there were well over 20empty beach chairs available, yet we were told we could not sit on any of them. What was most frustrating was not the policy itself, but the complete lack of willingness to offer any alternative or make us feel welcome as paying guests.
Hospitality is about making people feel valued. Instead, we felt dismissed and unwelcome despite having supported the property through its restaurant. A simple gesture or explanation would have made all the difference.
The hotel itself is beautiful, but exceptional properties are defined by exceptional service, and unfortunately that was completely missing during our visit.
We traveled from Puerto Rico excited to experience The Dunmore, but after this experience, we will never return and cannot recommend it to families looking for warm Bahamian hospitality.

★★★★★ Had an amazing experience at The Dunmore. DJ and Carlos were absolutely fantastic and made the whole visit memorable. From the moment we arrived they were welcoming, attentive, and incredibly professional.
DJ went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and Carlos was just as great — friendly, knowledgeable, and always one step ahead making sure we had everything we needed. The service felt effortless and genuinely warm.
Between the beautiful setting and the outstanding hospitality from DJ and Carlos, it was easily one of the highlights of our time on Harbour Island. Highly recommend stopping by The Dunmore — the team there truly knows how to take care of their guests.

THE BEACH GUYS AND THE MEN STAFF AS WELL AS THE ROOM LADIES WERE FANTASTIC,BUT THE LADIES WORKING AT RECEPTION AND IN THE DINING ROOM AND BAR WERE UNBELIEVABLY RUDE AND WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY TO MAKE OUR STAY UNENJOYABLE,ROLLING THIER EYES OR TURNING THEIR HEADS WHEN WE ASKED FOR ANYTHING. SENT US TO THE AIRPORT 3 HOURS BEFORE WE NEEDED TO GET THERE ..WOULD NEVER GO BACK

I sell homes in Downtown Charleston for a living, so I spend a lot of time thinking about what makes a place feel right.
The Dunmore nailed it from the moment we arrived. We stayed in Pink Sands, a charming little cottage that was absolutely perfect for two. Intimate, beautifully appointed, and exactly the right size.
Nothing about it felt like a standard hotel room. It felt like our place for the week. The food alone is worth the trip. The steak, the lobster angel hair, the burrata salad, all outstanding. But their signature cookie ice cream dessert might be what I think about most. Don't skip it.
Then there's Big Al. We actually met him on the boat coming into Harbour Island. Without being asked, he grabbed our very heavy bags, carried them to the taxi, shared a cab with us, and walked everything down to the front desk. He didn't have to do any of that. That spirit runs through the entire staff and the locals.
One afternoon a massive thunderstorm rolled through. We ducked under the thatched hut by the pool and spent an hour just the two of us, watching the rain, completely unbothered. That moment said everything about this place. The Dunmore is small by design, and that's the whole point.
It doesn't feel like a hotel. It feels like home, just a home in one of the most beautiful places on earth. We will be back.
