We are staying at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort & Spa. Yesterday, a fellow named Erik approached us pool side and we booked the 4 of us to attend the excursion today. We booked 4 quads.
The shuttle picked us up in the morning and made a few other pick-ups along the way. The destination itself is approximately 30 minutes away but the total commute was closer to 1 hour.
When you arrive, you're ushered into a gift shop and the photographers will try and sell you packages.
After that, there's a short wait and you get your helmet and depart. We rode for quite a long while before stopping and swimming in the cenote which was super cool with live DJ. Along the way, guys will try and have you take photos with parrots, an iguana and a massive snake draped over your shoulders.
We had a short visit to sample coffee, hot chocolate, mamajuana and observe cigar making.
Lastly, there was a very short tribal type dance/show. Then we hopped back on the quads and headed back to the main shop.
Loved:
- Nice long ride with even and some uneven surfaces.
- Pass lots of shanties and small children come out to wave.
- you do see cows and goats but if on a quad, you can't take pics (easier on a buggy where the passenger can take them)
- optional to ride through manmade mud holes
- cenote - well lit, clean, only chest high water, live DJ
Needs improvement
- explanation of where we are going/itinerary, the guides didn't say a word to our group - we were just following in silence. If you didn't know, you might have left your bag with the quad and not have your swimsuit with you.
- almost all the staff we encountered seemed less than happy to be doing what they are doing or to even have us there. There were no smiles, jokes, hospitality or excitement other than a small welcoming committee when we got off the bus.
- shuttle driver appreciates tips but to be honest, they do nothing to engage you. He sits up front in the cab separate from the guests.
We would have like to tip the tour leader but he just disappeared and we were herded towards the showers at the end. They didn't let us go back into the first gift shop. One way in, one way out I guess.
- I wish there were a stop or two along the way to take a few pictures but there wasn't.
Helpful hints:
1. Buy the bandana (it is dusty!!!!)
2. Bring water shoes for the cenote which is only chest high.
3. Wear shoes that won't fall off your feet easily and that you're willing to get dirty
4. Sunscreen and sunglasses
5. Bring a snack/water as there is no food on this tour (you can buy snacks/water at the gift shop buy you're paying a premium in USD)
6. Bring a phone lanyard or waterproof case when you go in the cenote
7. Use a backpack or bag that loop around the back of the seat of the quad.
8. There are small lockers included if you buy something at the gift shop.
9. When you stop during the tour, take your bags with you as you will be going to the swimming hole.
Overall, lots of dusty and dirty fun.

We did the evening tour including buggy ride, taino exhibition, coffee, chocolate, mamajuana tasting, a swim/party in a cenote in a cave and a typical dominican dinner. Food was fresh and good. It mentioned open bar bur there was really little time to enjoy it. And the party time in the cave was too short. Overall a good tour.

We fell for the hotel excursion from the W Punta Cana and did the Boogie Ride & Cave Swimming ($160).
The dune buggies were honestly the best part — absolute chaos in the best way possible. Pro tip: wear old clothes because you will leave looking like you lost a wrestling match with a brick factory. Red clay everywhere. Also bring something for your face unless you enjoy inhaling half of Punta Cana’s dust supply.
The “cave disco” was cool for about 7 minutes until we found out the cave is basically the Disney version of a cave, complete with chlorinated water and a gravel floor that feels like nature’s foot exfoliator.
The tour itself lasts approximately 14 business days (really 6 hours). Halfway through, they pause for what they call a “history lesson,” which is really just QVC: Dominican Republic Edition.
Then comes the final disco, where the music is loud enough to restart your heartbeat and everyone suddenly acts like they’re auditioning for a reality dating show.
10/10 recommend doing ONLY the dune buggy portion and escaping before the rest begins.

We did a 4 hour excursion with Adventure Boogies through Destination Services at Riu Palace and everyone in our group loved it. We had a healthy amount of time to ride and were also treated to a swim in the Domitai Park cave and a few local showings of traditional dance, coffee, and treats. The excursion takes you through areas of the island that are not the pristine resorts as well which I think folks should be aware of to really understand the island. This was most of our groups favorite day of our trip!

I read lots of reviews before we booked the trip. I wasnt sure what to expect with all the mixed reviews.
My family and I had a great time. I would do this excursion again. The cave was very refreshing. We had a lot fun going through the mud in the boogie. I wish there would have been more we could have gone through. The pictures were pricey, but they did get some great pictures.
