I'm conflicted about how to rate Happy Island in late March 2026. The lore and photos of this place are legendary so we were beyond excited to visit. In the end I am glad we went...and that we went at sunset. The view is to die for. Drinks are $10US. Drinks were ok. Menu is quite limited right now so we decided to eat elsewhere (back in Clifton). We could tell immediately the building has seen better days, yet we didn't understand Happy Island's latest chapter until after we had left it. Apparently during Beryl waves washed over the building. Without insurance, the owner is working to rebuild his life's work shell by shell. It's nothing short of a devastating loss for him, for all the locals and for the many charter crews and cruisers who know the essence and importance of this place and believe in it. I will Happily go back and just hand over $$ in person to support his mission.

Discover an incredibly charming and unique bar with a delightful owner. His fascinating story about building the island adds an extra layer of intrigue. For the ultimate sunset-viewing experience in Union Island, this bar surpasses all others. Don't pass up the opportunity. (Cash only when you buy drinks) We're certainly planning a return visit.

Thus far, we have visited this place twice and both times have been impressive. The first time was during the day and the owner of the place showed us some lovely photographs of when he first started it. He is extremely friendly and clearly works hard. The water was lovely and clear. During the day, it is a relaxing place to read a book and look at the beautiful water. Seriously, seriously strong rum punches. It was an extremely jovial atmosphere when we attended for the second time. There were several people in attendance from some nearby yachts. If you want to go to a place for a quiet drink, Happy Island at night is not quiet, at least not on this particular night. The music was great and there was also an impromptu conga line.

Such an awesome place! Literally an island that is dedicated to a bar. They serve a great piña colada. Music varies but is always cheerful. Only complaint would be the plastic straws, I wish they made a more environmentally friendly choice.

What a fun and unique experience! We were a group of 16 sailing around on 2 Cats and went to Happy Island for a night of Amazing Food, Drinks and Dancing and it didn't disappoint in the least. We were accommodated with a table large enough to sit all 16 of us and the Food including Lobster, Fish, Bbq Chicken and sides was Amazing and just what we all needed after a long day of sailing. Hint, def call ahead early in the day and let them know you're coming and with how many in your party.
