Horizon Yacht Charters St Vincent

A really good charter company with good service overall but room for improvement in certain areas. We had a one way charter from St Vincent to Grenada in a Lagoon 450. One evening our dinghy got punctured against a jetty in a heavy swell which built up when we were dining ashore (yes we had a stern anchor out!) . The dinghy & engine got submerged but Dale was quick to sort out a replacement which we were grateful for. So far so good but we felt we were treated like naive fools when Horizon initially demanded that the dinghy should be replaced for a new one resulting in loss of $2000 security deposit. It felt like Horizon and the boat owner were being opportunistic. The dinghy was clearly repairable and indeed had been patched up previously . I needed to be firm and assertive which was stress I could have done without before Horizon eventually came to an equitable compromise arrangement a few days later. The other area for improvement was the chart briefing which did not cover the procedure for refuelling and docking in Port Louis, Grenada. We were told “ring the base and they’ll take you in”. It turned out you have to refuel yourself then call ch.14 for assistance to the berth but Horizon’s member of staff missed the plane so we ended up docking the boat ourselves . Ok for us as we’re experienced in catamaran boat handling but could have been a bit daunting for someone with less experience.

We had Guy Hadley as our captain on Island Dreams for 9days. THE BEST experience! Guy was extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic instructor for my husband who was completing his ASA certification. Would HIGHLY recommend using Guy and Horizon for any charters.

We just finished a trip on Mucho Gusto with Horizon. We had a great time and would recommend horizon to anyone looking to charter a boat in the Grenadines.
