I recently had a pleasant shopping experience with one of my in-laws. The shop is impressively well-stocked, offering a wide variety of items that made browsing an enjoyable experience. The large aisles provided plenty of space to move around comfortably, which made the shopping trip even more pleasant.
One highlight was the popular restaurant located on the first floor. It offered a great spot to relax and enjoy a delicious cooked meal.
Although parking can be challenging during peak times, we were lucky and didn’t have any difficulty finding a parking space. Overall, it was a delightful shopping visit.

Well stocked, neat and clean.
It’s always busy which makes the above important.
Staff are friendly though just direct you to the aisle when looking for an item, as opposed to competitors that find the items for you.
There’s lots of parking as well.

This is a very easy going supermarket with friendly and present workers. The packers usually approach me as soon as they see my trolly looking full or if I am heading towards the cashier. They usually ask if I need assistance or if I am ready to cash out. Some of these packers who are now like family as they have been assisting me for more than Ten (10) years. Some of them are Ravon, Jevaugh (when he is in there) and Oneal. The other thing that I like about JRW Supermarket is the pleasant greeting from the cashiers when you reach the counter. Some Supermarkets do not even offer or cannot find a box if you do not have a shopping bag. These packers usually find something or go as far as even taping the box back together for you if it is broken down. It is just a family friendly place to shop. John R Wong is one of those family own "old Chinese"(Chinese who came to Jamaica from indentured Labour since1865) Supermarket. It has been around for more than Fifty (50) years (I think). It is part of the Loshusan Consortium. This Supermarket mis centrally located in the heart of New Kingston. It was the only Supermarket in this area until about Three (3) years ago. The Supermarket houses a canteen that supplies lunch on weekdays and a juice bar on the second (2nd) floor. Lunch is normally available from around 11am but usually finishes around 2pm. The food is usually a variety of local dishes including pasta and steamed or raw vegetables. It tends to finish quickly due to the taste and quality. There is also a bakery on the ground floor. Displayed along side the baked goods are also rotisserie chicken and pork packaged in different sizes to meat customer needs. The ground floor also houses a Scotia Bank ATM and a payment service (Paymaster, I think). This Supermarket also caters to the entertainment needs of their customers by placing a Television set close to the cashier section ( where you form the queue). It is usually on for the loxal news at 7pm or any important event including sports. They also have clean toilet facilities should the customer need one. There is an abundance of free parking and visible security. It is also wheelchair friendly with wide aisle. The Supermarket is usually clean, neat and well stocked with fresh fruits, meats (meat counter with a buzzer should your need be different from what is displayed) and vegetables.A variety of wines and liquor and cigarettes are also available by a counter near the exit. Some of the wines are available on shelves. I usually get in and out pretty quickly (except for major holidays) due to the assistance from the packers and the speed of the cashiers. They offer an in-house card that allows accumulated points that can be used for future shopping. It is also an added appeal for me, that they also accept the Magna Card (in partnership with Scotia Bank) that also accumulates points. The Magna Card can also be used for future shopping with the accumulated points. The opening hours are excellent (8am to 8pm) varying on weekends.

So I have been going to J R Wong since im a teenager, my first really positive experience was when I was in my 20s and when the cashier finished cashing I realized I had forgotten my purse. The supervisor on duty said it was ok to go with the items and return with the money the bill was like $12,000. I'm in my 30s now and I consistently get excellent service from the Mezzanine/restaurant staff example I was really sick in February, I ran out of cash and didn't have enough energy to go to an ATM and I asked the supervisor if the bearer could be given the soups and then I would pay either the next day or the day after. Sophie the supervisor said yes and she actually paid for them out of her pocket! Also Tash and Shaquelle always treat me exceptionally good! I've had very positive experiences at this supermarket. You can also sometimes find unusual snacks that I don't see in other supermarkets I buy a Ken's Oyster and Vinegar Chips there regularly that I hardly see anywhere else as well as TOS corn tortilla chips that I hardly see elsewhere.

Hands done one of my favorite places to shop. You can get almost anything you may need. To top it off the onsite bakery serves fresh delectable pastries daily. Additionally the staff is amazing and extremely friendly.
