The employee or boss clearly understands English but insists on responding only in French. Furthermore, he was laughing at us together with other customers. This behavior is incredibly rude and unprofessional.
Update:
Thank you for the polished, likely AI-generated response, but it misrepresents the facts. The issue was not a language barrier, it was a clear choice to refuse to communicate in english despite understanding it. I asked "How much does this cost?" and even after repeating "How much?" while holding and showing the product, the employee insisted on responding in French twice. Only after the third time did he suddenly answer in english, proving he understood me perfectly.
What followed was even worse: as soon as I turned around, he began mocking and laughing at me with another customer. I know the difference between a friendly smile and mocking a person. This refusal to communicate in english despite understanding it is a frustratingly common occurrence on this island, but the blatant disrespect is what makes this truly unprofessional and led me in writing this review. Instead of using a template to deflect, a genuine apology for this behavior would have been appropriate.

A small convenience store with a good range of products. A bit on the pricey side.

A very nice store! Cleaner than other, more well-known supermarkets!
This store deserves to be better known. Friendly service!

The store is pleasant and clean; the selection is quite extensive! It's really great to be able to buy my bread and vegetables in the same place! The staff is also quite friendly.
