Such a beautiful space and definitely worth visiting. What I loved most is that as you walk in off the main street, entering this space feels like stepping into a completely different world. From the outside, you would never expect how open, relaxing, and beautifully curated it is inside, and I really loved that contrast.
There’s a little bit of everything all in one place — a charming artisan shop, boutique, coffee spot, restaurant, and relaxed beachfront lounge areas where you can just sit, unwind, and enjoy the atmosphere.
Whether you’re in the mood for coffee, brunch, or simply relaxing by the beach, they have options for all of it. The entire space feels warm, intentional, and inviting. The staff were all incredibly professional, welcoming, and genuinely kind, which made the experience even better.
Overall, it’s just a really cool place to hang out and spend time. Beautiful atmosphere, great energy, and definitely somewhere I’d recommend visiting.

Unfortunately, I still haven’t had the chance to actually eat at Local & Co, but I wanted to leave this review because of an experience that stayed with me.
I’ve lived in the Caribbean and traveled through many islands, and what I value most is experiencing the real place — its people, local food, fishermen, farmers, and small businesses that genuinely care about their island.
Years ago, living in the Cayman Islands, I was saddened by how much food seemed to be frozen and shipped in from the U.S., even though the island is surrounded by the sea. Later, living on another beautiful Caribbean island, I saw hardworking local people growing food, building businesses, and trying to preserve and share the natural character of their home. That is the kind of Caribbean I love and want to support.
In April 2026, while visiting Barbados, we were walking through Speightstown looking for genuinely fresh, locally caught fish. Outside Local & Co, we saw a man personally unloading fresh fish and vegetables from a truck. I asked where we could find truly fresh local food.
He told us, essentially, “Here. This is my restaurant. Come here if you want honest, good-quality local food.”
What impressed me most was not just what he said, but how he said it. He was completely hands-on and spoke with genuine energy, enthusiasm, and passion about local ingredients, quality, and where the food came from. You could immediately tell this was not simply business to him — it mattered personally.
Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed the next day and we were leaving Barbados shortly after. That brief encounter stayed in my mind.
When we returned to Barbados on another trip, I specifically wanted to come back because I had never forgotten that conversation. Amazingly, we missed it again — this time because the restaurant was on its annual break until September 15.
That made me curious enough to research the business, and what I learned made me respect Local & Co even more.
This is not simply another beautiful Caribbean restaurant trying to sell meals to tourists. There is a deeper philosophy behind it: supporting Barbadian farmers and fishermen, using local and seasonal ingredients, reducing dependence on imported food, encouraging regenerative agriculture, reducing waste, and keeping more value within Barbados.
There is a difference between a business that simply operates in Barbados and one that genuinely contributes to Barbados. From what I witnessed before I knew anything about their story, and from what I later learned about their values, Local & Co appears to be the latter.
I still can’t review the food because, somehow, after two trips, I haven’t managed to eat here yet! But I can absolutely review the impression this place and that encounter left on me.
Seeing someone so personally involved, unloading fresh fish and vegetables and speaking so passionately about eating locally, was more meaningful to me than any advertisement.
We will be back, and this time I am determined to finally sit down and eat here.
Until then, I hope people don’t look at Local & Co as just another restaurant asking for tourist dollars. Take a moment to understand the values behind it. Supporting businesses that respect their island, farmers, fishermen, environment, and local economy is one of the best things we can do as visitors.
That is the kind of tourism I want to support.

This fabulous restaurant has everything. Walk in from the main street into the amazing Coffee bar & small boutique. The aroma of coffee beans hits you as you enter. Pass the cosy settees into the open restaurant set right on the beach, or chill outside right on the beach. The Food is " organic" and beautifully presented. It is of high quality so a little expensive, but worth it. Staff are wonderfully attentive & professional. Although some of last year's staff had moved on. All of the Front of house to behind kitchen Staff work hard and are friendly. Christian in the beach part was particularly charismatic and professional. See below 2 dishes I have eaten here. Can heartily recommend the Tacos.

Local & Co was on my list of critiques for this year . We had the crudo sampler, (recommend a side of breadfruit chips) jerk pork bites , mahi and lobster, chicken curry (please present it better and add cauliflour ) presentation was not appealing compared to the rest. Appetite starts with the eye . Service was excellent . Our bar tender was TOP notch and we enjoyed a rum sampling . The place itself is very charming and inviting . Cocktails were also amazing and very well presented . Will return to try different menu options . Highly recommended !

My partner and I chose Local & Co for our Valentine’s dinner and it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish.
A huge shoutout to Mckele, Shareece and Marlon for their exceptional service. They were welcoming and truly made the evening feel special. Marlon made sure everything flowed perfectly throughout the night.
We started with the beetroot cured king fish and the spicy beef tartare, both were absolutely delicious. In fact, they were so good that we immediately ordered a second round of starters! That alone says it all.
For our mains, I had the creole spiced lobster tail and my partner chose the skillet free range chicken. Both dishes were beautifully prepared and full of flavor. While the lobster itself was fantastic, the breadfruit coucou that accompanied it wasn’t quite to my personal taste but everything else on the plate was excellent.
For dessert, we both had the sea salt caramel rum tart with banana ice cream and it was the perfect sweet ending to the night. The cocktails were also well made and complemented the meal nicely.
Before heading home, we stopped by The Commons Social Club and the vibe there was amazing, stylish and a great way to wrap up the evening. Another shoutout to Mckele for holding it down and keeping the energy just right.
Overall, it was a memorable Valentine’s celebration and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
