Loose Mongoose, is a catching name, for a restaurant and I came here to have lobster for lunch. The place is located by the water and there is no seaweed stench so it was inviting to sit down. There was a nice cool breeze and they seem to have been expecting me, because I called to make sure they were serving lobster. I ordered a half grilled lobster, a huge portion. The lobster was like rubber. I was trying to pull out the meat from the shell and I couldn’t even get it out. Small pieces that I put in my mouth were chewy and as I dug to get more of the meat out I could feel how cold it was by the shell. Clearly a freshness issue, and I brought it to the attention of the server, actually gave her cold pieces to touch and hold. She stated they got it yesterday. I don’t really believe that. I had to send it back to the kitchen. I couldn’t eat it. The coleslaw was OK. Rice and peas were OK and that’s it. So I ended up ordering the coconut curry mahi-mahi which took over 45 minutes to get to my table, they kind of ignored me. It really was upsetting. I had to ask several times and they kept saying it was coming out. When it did. It was also very tough and dry but warm, the sauce was good and that’s it. Overall I was disappointed. I was planning to get a carry out for dinner but abandoned the idea. I can see why restaurants fail in the product they deliver, but at the same time they must be straight and upfront. Also be honest and provide excellent customer service. I gave them two entree tries and they failed both times. So did their customer service.

Loose Mongoose is a gem on Beef Island. The waterfront setting is hard to beat—crystal-clear water, sailboats anchored in the bay, and stunning island views that make you want to linger long after your meal or drink.
We stopped in for cocktails and were immediately impressed by the relaxed atmosphere and beautiful location. Sipping a refreshing drink while looking out across the harbor was the perfect Caribbean experience. The restaurant has a laid-back island vibe, friendly service, and plenty of outdoor seating to take in the scenery.
Whether you’re arriving by land or sea, Loose Mongoose is worth the visit for the views alone. Add good drinks, a welcoming staff, and a memorable waterfront setting, and it becomes one of those places you’ll want to return to every time you’re in the British Virgin Islands.
Highly recommended for sunset cocktails, lunch with a view, or simply enjoying the best of Virgin Gorda’s coastal beauty. 🌴🍹⛵️

First time at the new location on Trellis Bay. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. Beautiful facilities, gorgeous dock, excellent food, and great service. The conch fritters are the best around, as were the Painkiller drinks. They did an amazing job building this restaurant. I’ll definitely be returning here often.

Of the restaurants I visited down here this place had the best food, their lobster bisque was amazing, and portions are good. Overall really happy, only con was long service time, but every place here runs on island time so I guess that's just how it be. Recommend giving this place a shot!

The food is hands down just incredible. As mundane as chicken wings might be, Da Loose Mongoose nailed it. Perfectly cooked and seasoned... Left our table wanting more... Glad we saved up because the Shrimp It! With Asian Red Curry sauce was a game changer. Best curry ever, to a person, in our group. Well done Mongoose! Can't wait to come back.
