We stayed at Rest Haven Beach Cottages (parents in-laws, my partner and 2 year old) and had a memorable time, thanks to its breathtaking location and charming rustic vibe. The highlight was definitely the balcony with its stunning sea view, offering a tranquil spot to enjoy sunrises and sunsets. However, potential guests should be aware that these cottages fall short of typical European standards. The cottages are basic, with wonky floors, plasterboard walls, and a front door secured by a padlock. It feels more like a surf shack than a traditional cottage. While the bed was surprisingly comfortable, there were noticeable issues: exposed nails in wooden boards, an electrically heated shower with exposed wires (which broke) a mouldy curtain, and cockroaches and bugs making occasional appearances. The toilet leaked. Each room had a fan, but the lack of air conditioning was felt during hotter days. The terrace views are stunning, though the floorboards appear a bit precarious. We got bitten by bugs countless times. During our stay the parents in law enquired at another hotel. Despite its flaws, Rest Haven has a certain charm, especially for travelers seeking an authentic, no-frills beachside experience. Just know what you're signing up for!

Our stay at Rest haven was brilliant. We spent one week here and it was a great base to explore Barbados. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfy. There is the stunning beach and coastline directly opposite which is ideal for exploring and hiking the local trails. This side of Barbados coastline is quite rugged and although not ideal for swimming, while we were there we did meet some world class surfers. Regular beaches ( and there are plenty to choose from ) were a short drive away. There are a few local bars to eat and drink at which were all delicious. We enjoyed cooking in our home at night and eating on the terrace with a cold beer and a rum listening to the waves roll in and looking at the stars. Fitz the owner is an incredibly warm and genuine host with lots of tips and great chat. He is to be commended. If your stay is about getting away from the tourist traps, generic hotels and $40 linguini then stay here. This is where Mick Jagger would escape to and shack up with Jerry Hall after all, so you can’t go wrong with that !

This review is so long overdue!! I attended Barbados Race Weekend held in Bathsheba in December 2022, and I picked Rest Haven randomly, due to our being within five miles of race site by car. I could not be more pleased! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!! Right across the street from Bathsheba Beach, down the street from a few great restaurants, majestic views, friendly people, and gorgeous weather. The owner, Mr. Fitz, is just a delightful, amazing man who I am keeping in touch with. Literally one of the nicest men you'll ever meet. Period!! The cottages are rustic. Definitely not a place for people who don't know how to be "non-luxurious," (be semi-unplugged, not have a TV on-site, not have central air or heat). There was free wifi and everything in the cottage we had worked. We opted to buy groceries, so we didn't always have to go to places to eat, but we defintely hit the spots on the street a few times. I highly recommend this spot. I will book there, again, when we go back. Waking up and just having to cross the street to this visual paradise, smelling the ocean breeze, hearing the ocean at night, feeling like a local, and having fresh coconut fell from the tree on property was priceless!! But the price you do pay is affordable. We were there a week. Definitely a LOOOOT more affordable than a resort or hotel. Best to rent a car, though the city bus does run past. I don't have those pics on my phone anymore, but I will come back and add some.

Lovely, quiet place, faced ocean. Perhaps the first look is not good. Time and salty breeze have left their mark on wooden houses. Poorly equipped kitchen, bathroom requiring renovation, some crooked walls. But all this does not matter because the opportunity to enjoy the sunrise when you swim in the ocean or walk the coral reef will compensate you for any inconvenience. This place is a good point for trips to the interior of the island. The first few days I used a rented car then changed to a local transport. The blue buses will take you to Bridgetown and Speightstown. There are two bars a few steps from Rest Haven Beach. Dina's Bar and Sea Side Bar where you eat local food. The owner Fitz is a very cordial man with whom a glass of rum drunk in the evening tastes delicious.

I can honestly say that Rest Haven Beach Cottages is the best place I've ever stayed in Barbados. Simple, basic and perfect for travellers who wish to escape the madness of the UK'S hectic cities. The owner Fitz will go above and beyond to help his guests and I can proudly say that it was a pleasure to meet this owner. Without doubt, the best place I've stayed and visited in all of Barbados 100%
