A tremendous attempt to document what has been described as the first village owned by a community of freed enslaved people due to the monies left to them in the owner's will.
This happened many more times but often the would be inheritors were not aware and to this day their descendants fight to take possession. In this case a village was established and a few descendants occupy the spot to this day.
Perhaps all it need now is another kind hearted benefactor to repair and refresh the installation and surrounding signage, either way, you must visit and you should look.

This place has potential but it seems to have been abandoned and left unfinished.

Valuable and important part of history. The monument is impressive. Nothing else to do but an excellent picknick spot if you plan this stop accordingly.

An interesting bit of history. Not very special. Needs something more to enhance the experience.
