We stayed here a while back but just remembering how lush it was. We didn't have a car, but the owner arranged a taxi to pick us up from our previous accommodation in Calabishie and drive us there. It was such an incredible experience to sleep in the jungle in peace and a highlight of our trip. We spent most of our time there hiking - so many great routes!

Yes, the road to Roots is barely accessible. Yes, you will be sleeping in the heart of the jungle. These are not exaggerations. But the stay was absolutely worth it. As long as you have an SUV you will be able to come here. During our two-night stay, we hiked everything from the hotel (they have a list of own recommended hikes) and only used the car for leaving. The stay itself is lovely, you get to feel, see, smell, and hear the jungle around you. Dinner and breakfast are made from fresh and local resources and tasted amazing!

We truly enjoyed our stay at Roots. The resort is situated deep in the jungle, fully immersed in nature, which was an incredible experience. The eco-friendly approach of the resort is highly commendable. Our cottage was comfortable, and the owners were extremely kind and helpful at all times. They provided us with great advice about the island, organized some hikes near the resort, and offered many other helpful tips. The food was absolutely amazing as well. We highly recommend this place and would definitely return.

The road to access it is really bad—no car rental company on the island wants to rent you a car to go there. We had to insist because Guadalupe made me pay $300 in advance for two nights. I quickly understood why they were hesitant. The road is absolutely terrible—scary, nauseating, and nearly impossible to drive on. The only car rental company willing to rent to me warned me to reconsider, mentioning that a previous customer had a panic attack and left the day after arriving. We actually did the same. The experience was awful for the level of comfort provided—barely functional WiFi, no electricity from 10 PM to 8 AM, and what seems to be poor wastewater filtration. There was a bad smell near the bungalow. Guadalupe purposely advertises that the location is only 10 miles from the airport, but in reality, it takes at least 45 minutes to get there—meaning you spend 21 minutes just covering 2 miles! You can find a nicer stay for half the price just two minutes away at Serenity Lodges. Save your money and avoid a panic attack

The location was absolutely stunning. The cabin was cozy and comfortable. Most of all, the hosts were amazing. They provided delicious meals and answered any questions we had about the island. I would give more stars if I could!
