Sandra’s Beach Shop Bar and Grill

We visited here around 230pm on a Friday. We were given menus but asked for a drinks menu too but were told all the drinks were on the menu……they weren’t! We ordered a beer (which was a tiny bottle) and a lemonade (neither were shown on menu) but were offered a very weak lime squash with ice. We ordered a chicken jerk burger with fries and a plain chicken burger with fries. We waited about half an hour for the food. We thought that was good as food would be being cooked from fresh. How wrong were we! When it arrived the fries were lukewarm, the buns were very dry and the chicken ‘burgers’ were cold. They weren’t proper burgers but just pieces of flattened chicken. The plain one was icy cold like it had just been taken from the fridge!. I told the waitress and she said she could get it re-heated! I declined as I said I don’t want to get ill from reheated chicken! When we asked for the bill we asked for a reduction, the waitress was nice and said she couldn’t make that decision but would ask the boss. Five minutes later she returned saying no reduction but they could cook another burger but wouldn’t include fries as we’d eaten those. It was odd that the boss was willing to provide another burger, at cost to her but wouldn’t reduce cost of the bill! This has resulted in this review. Nice service from the waitress but awful food and drink with an apparent lack of understanding about food hygiene. Had they reheated an already cooked piece of chilled chicken, we would likely have been unwell from food poisoning. Avoid, don’t eat here and hopefully you’ve read this review before visiting. We definitely wished we had looked at reviews before we visited.

Popped in for a late lunch today at Sandra’s. Beach bar is located directly on Jolly Beach- what a view! Service was outstanding- I believe Daniel was our server. Pleasant young man! Food is made fresh to order so there is a bit of a wait time, but with an ocean view like the one at Sandra’s this shouldn’t be a concern. We ordered the grilled lobster & curry goat meal with red stripe beer . Something to note: some items varies (look for the + next to prices to avoid surprises-I saw another review mentioned they got a higher bill than expected) this probably is due to fluctuation in market price. Other than that , if you’re in jolly harbour , this beach bar should be on your list to visit. There’s a cute swing photo op with an Antigua flag in front. 🇦🇬A great spot to experience local culture.

A terrible level of service. First, you have to wait an unreasonably long time just to speak with a member of staff. Since Sandra’s is the only beach bar located on the northern side, it seems to rely on its monopoly position, and the owner clearly has no interest to provide a pleasant experience to their customers. We visited a couple of times for drinks and once tried to have lunch. They had only five customers in the restaurant, and we were told the kitchen was “fully packed” and that we couldn’t order any food. I cannot recommend Sandra’s Bar due to its lousy and extremely slow service. I give the two stars only, because drinks from the bar were served fairly quickly and the cocktails were decent.

We have eaten here so many times while on our holiday. The food is incredible. Order from the board. My favourite was the curried goat roti, it's marvelous. The flavours are incredible. My son loved the curried goat and he is a peaky eater. Yes, you have to wait a while for the food, but it's worth it and you're on holiday, you can swim in the sea while you wait for the food to arrive. It's a beautiful setting and the staff are lovely.

Nice people and good food. They are on island time, but if you are nice you will have a wonderful time. It is great to eat with your feet in the sand. The Sandra's burger is great and the jerk sauce was delicious. We went multiple days and enjoyed the drinks.
