If you’re anywhere near Thunder Bay and you don’t stop at Simone’s Bajan Kitchen, you’ve genuinely missed a trick. This is a brilliant, family-run gem with Simone firmly at the helm, backed up by her equally lovely family who make the whole place feel warm, welcoming and very Bajan.
A special mention has to go to Faye, who sorts out the sun loungers, bringing drinks, checking everyone’s happy and doing it all with a smile. She’s an absolute star and adds so much to the experience.
The food is cooked fresh every day and served from about 12.30pm until around 2.00pm – or it sells out. The jerk chicken is outstanding, and the mac pie, rice and peas with gravy is an absolute must-try combo. Traditional Bajan food at its very best.
Thunder Bay is one of my favourite beaches on the island, and Simone’s just makes it even better. Oh – and whatever you do, don’t forget to try a rum punch.

Fantastic local cuisine at a beautiful beach with chairs and drinks available. Come for lunch, stay for the beach. Simone and her staff were the definition of island friendly. Lunch is available from ~1pm but limited (free) parking fills up fast so get here early. Additional parking across the street from the public beach access a bit north. Thanks Simone!

A looooooong due review of one of the best places on the island 😋
We’ve visited the beautiful Reeds Bay beach in January 2025. When we arrived, Fae has greeted us at a small public parking space and secured us a good parking spot.
She set up a couple of beach chairs for us and an umbrella.
Her mom, Simone, prepares a home cooked food. She will arrive at the place around 11AM with a great selection of dishes. Everything we ate was delicious. Like home cooked delicious!
I felt like at home with them, even helped them storing beach chairs at the end of the day. What a great place and above all what a great ladies. I’m sending you my love from across the ocean, please stay great 🤗

What a lovely lady Simone is, so helpful and friendly.
She is based at the South end of Reeds Bay beach. Lots of shade under the tree if you get there early.
The perfect spot for snorkeling as there is a reef a few meters offshore.
She provides local foods at lunchtime and drinks.
The big plus is she charges half the price, for beds and brollys, then other guys along the coast and there is parking right beside her spot.

We stopped at Simone’s for lunch during our beach day at Reeds bay. She welcomed us into her food shack with a smile on her face like we were family. We ended up getting the catch of the day, rice and peas, corn pie, and coleslaw. The food was delicious and you can tell it was made with her heart. We sat outside on some benches to enjoy our meal, and she came over to give us some fresh baked banana bread as well for no charge. It was such a treat. Definitely be sure to pay Simone a visit during your stay :)
