Surreal Décor in Barbados…where do I start? I live in the UK and based on the amazing images I saw on Instagram, Facebook and their website, I decided to use Surreal Décor as the decorators for my destination wedding in February 2020. Planning a destination wedding has it’s challenges, from the time zone difference to the delays due to most contact with suppliers being via email/messenger. After a year of planning, I arrived in Barbados just over a week before my wedding date, my intention was to sign off the final details in the 1st couple days, then use the rest of the time to relax before the big day. I’d organised a meeting at the wedding venue where I’d be a) seeing the venue for the first time b) meeting the team from the venue for the first time and c) meeting Latoya from Surreal Décor for the 1st time. To my absolute shock and horror, within a few minutes of being at the venue it was shared that the coordinator I’d been dealing with from the venue had been fired with no handover. The only thing the new coordinator knew about my wedding was the date. So months of planning gone down the drain, instead of signing off the final details, I now found myself in the position of having to go through EVERY single detail. I’m a migraine sufferer and had only recently gone back to work after having a migraine for 8 consecutive weeks. So it wasn’t only the wedding at risk with this situation, it was also my health. It was in this moment of chaos that Latoya stepped in - half angel, half wonder woman - and just sorted everything. Now let’s be clear, the issue with the venue had nothing to do with Latoya or her company and there was absolutely no expectation or quite frankly, no monetary incentive for Latoya to take hold of the situation like she did. She just made EVERYTHING happen and it was only through her involvement that I had the confidence the wedding would be everything we had been planning for. (which in the end was epic) Would I recommend Surreal Décor? Yes is too small a word to really justify how much I would recommend them. You can look at amazing pictures on Instagram, Facebook or websites, I’m sure there are other event companies that would do a good job with the décor but, what I got from Surreal Décor you can’t put a price on, it was the peace of mind that I was in safe hands and come what may, I had absolutely nothing to worry about due to their extremely high levels of professionalism, resilience, problem solving skills and at the heart of it, integrity for the right thing to be done.

Planning an elopement from another country can feel like a leap of faith, and that is exactly what we did when we travelled from the UK to Barbados to elope in November 2025. While things didn’t go perfectly smoothly and there were a few bumps along the way, Latoya and her team had our backs the whole time. No matter what came up, they went above and beyond; they made sure things got sorted and that our day felt special. If you are expecting military-level precision, this might feel different, but that is also part of the charm. Life moves at a more relaxed pace there, and sometimes things take an extra day or two, but everything comes together in the end. Latoya and her team would do anything to make your day special, all you have to do is ask! A huge thank you to Akima, Latoya and the Surreal team; we will cherish these memories for the rest of our lives. If you are planning a big wedding or just an elopement for two (like we did), Surreal will make your dream come true!

One week leading up to our event in Barbados we reached out to Surreal Decor to transform our venue at Panenka Restaurant at Rockley Country Club. Latoya was super efficient, professional, and timely and worked with us for even our last minute requests. Let me start first by saying that my wedding was SURREAL. On behalf of Ricardo and I, we want to publicly thank you for making sure our wedding was nothing short of amazing. We have known each other for a long time but after Latoya did my cousin’s daughter wedding, I knew that Surreal Decor definitely had to do mine. On top of their amazing design capabilities, professionalism and punctuality sits high on my list. Even though I changed my quotations about 4-5 times, Latoya never complained. Persistent questions for 5 months straight and panic mode in the last month was well received with understanding. Don’t forget those 6am calls (lol) was always a laugh. The constant reminder that everything is sorted, Latoya and her assistant then became psychologist just before my big day. Latoya can do everything under the sun, just leave it to her and trust her. Every detail and colour scheme envisioned was executed to perfection and more. Even all the last minute add ons from the DJ to the decking. How she got the decking painted at last minute to the color scheme was beyond me. I would recommend anyone thinking about having a stress free wedding to give Latoya a call. Ask about her wedding planning as well and don’t try as a bride or groom to plan your own wedding would be my advice. Her packages are very affordable and you won’t be disappointed. Kudos and much respect to the Surreal Decor team.

Where do I begin when everything was exceptional from the day we met with Surreal. You know they love what they do because it shows in the results, they pay very close attention to details and everything was beautiful. I just left everything up to Latoya and she did not disappoint. We had very steady rainfall for the whole week prior to the wedding and by the Wednesday Latoya already had a plan in motion to save our special day. In a couple calls she had a new location and it worked out perfectly. I recall walking down the aisle and saying to myself this room is beautiful I couldn' t believe it was the same empty plain room I had seen two days prior. Everything was perfectly placed and the arch, it was beautiful. Surreal Decor is the perfect choice for your events, from decor right down to the food Surreal have you covered.
