i was pleasantly surprised to find authentic Nigerian food in barbados. the owner was super nice and helpful as i was trying to get my card to work. the egusi tasted exactly how it should. this was my first time trying it with eba, and i must say i prefer it with pounded yam. the jollof was great too, but could’ve used a little more spice. the chicken was nice and had a charred/smoky flavor to it. i definitely will be ordering every time i travel to barbados now. the prices are fair as well.

Delicious! We had the Egusi with eba and it was soooo good! I always miss Nigerian food when I’m in Barbados so was soooo happy it tasted authentic. Very impressed. My Bajan friends had never tasted Nigerian soups before and really enjoyed it. Also GREAT that you can pre-order without shellfish as my friends have allergies. I will definitely be ordering again when I’m back. x

Parking: 4/5 | Responsiveness: 4/5 | Food: 3/5 I’m really happy that I found a place in Barbados offering African food, it’s such a nice addition and I was excited to give it a try, since I’m always looking for new experiences. The rice portion was generous and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice—enough to taste the heat without being overpowering. The chicken was also good and reminded me a lot of local chicken, which made me reflect on how connected our Caribbean food culture is to African roots, so the flavor profile was very similar flavour. Personally, I would have liked a bit more or a larger piece protein in comparison to the starch. I was however pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of coleslaw, which balanced the meal nicely. The packaging was attractive and well put together. I also appreciated the unique experience of collecting the food directly from someone’s home, it added a warm, authentic touch. Overall, this is a welcome addition to the Barbados food scene. Thank you for introducing me to something new!

Even before I ordered the customer service was excellent. Once my order was delivered, the jollof rice and chicken were spicy, tasty and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend. The egusi was a good first experience for me and the fufu was soft and mellow, but for me an acquired taste. I’m looking forward to trying the pounded yam next time with the egusi. Overall a wonderful first experience ordering from Taste of Africa!

My family was being treated to a day off cooking. Taste of Africa accommodated us on day that they do not even work. We were grateful for their willingness to still cook for us....and for that alone give them 5 stars! It was our first time trying African food (and they accommodated us with not having our food hot with pepper because some of us suffer with acid reflux) we enjoyed the meal. Thank you Taste of Africa!
