If you're looking for what I would call luxury budget, The Freedom Hotel is the place to stay in Curacao! Location is incredible. We loved the ladies that worked there. All of them were very helpful to any requests we had. Close walking distance to everything that Otrabanda and Punda have to offer(although you will still want a car to explore and for that they have their own free parking lot). The food at the hotel itself was great. Wasn't award winning or anything but for the price it was solid. Cute clean room with AC. Great pool area. Really no complaints about our stay except the tv situation was a bit weird. Couldn't stream to the tv from our devices and the netflix is someone else's account that we couldn't log out of(and was all in spanish) but we made it work. Definitely would stay at the Freedom Hotel again if/when we return to this beautiful island! Mahalo from your friends in Hawai'i!

the place is okay, the rooms are reasonable but build very awfully especially the showers, the water goes out everywhere and floods the toilets, the service at the cafe is sometimes good and sometimes bad, the hotel room doesn't have a microwave so there's no where to heat up the food, so of course they'll hot it for you at the kitchen but apparently that's not possible cause it's against policy a few employees said which is nonsense but of course there was at least two employees with enough kindness and sense to know you just gotta put something in a microwave and take it out, simple but that's too much for some of them so they're very un-reliant and have too much attitude all of them

We stayed several nights at this hotel and had a very pleasant experience. The rooms are basic but comfortable—though it would be nice to have a few more hooks or racks to hang clothes and towels. Due to a smell in the bathroom pipes, the staff kindly offered us to move to a room of a lower category in exchange for complimentary breakfasts for the remaining days, which was a fair and appreciated solution. Breakfast was very good and varied: eggs, bacon, sausages, tamales, potato tortillas, cheese, cold cuts, tuna and crab stick salads, yogurt, cereals, fruit salad, cake, and both hot and cold drinks. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The pool is small but rarely used, so it’s perfect for relaxing after a long beach day. The hotel has free parking right in front, which is ideal since renting a car is essential for getting around the island. The location is excellent—just a 5-minute walk from the main bus station, making it easy and affordable to reach the airport. The neighborhood is full of colorful murals celebrating Curaçao’s vibrant street art, truly a must-see! It’s also very close to the Queen Emma Bridge, with easy access to Punda and Pietermaai. Right down the colorful stairs, there’s a supermarket and a Chinese take-out place (fried chicken with rice or fries) that saved our dinners more than once.

Our stay at Freedom Hotel in Willemstad was extremely disappointing due to the poor housekeeping and lack of basic cleanliness throughout our visit. I stayed here with my two daughters, and from the very beginning, the room felt dirty and poorly maintained. • We repeatedly found other people’s hair on the floors and in the bathroom, which is completely unacceptable. • The floors often felt sticky and dirty, as if they hadn’t been properly cleaned in a long time. • The bathroom was never cleaned thoroughly, and the room never felt fresh or hygienic. Housekeeping consistently did the bare minimum, and even that was inconsistent: • We didn’t receive fresh towels on several days. • We had to ask for shower gel refills and toilet paper because they wouldn't restock them. • The beds were made differently every day, sometimes with sheets or blankets missing and never replaced. • Even after I complained about the cleaning issues, nothing improved — in fact, it got worse. • On our last day, no cleaning was done at all. The room was left exactly as we had left it. To be fair, the staff were friendly, and the hotel is about a 16‑minute walk from downtown Willemstad, which is convenient. However, if you are a light sleeper, be aware that there is a casino attached to the hotel, and it can get loud late at night. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, poor housekeeping standards, and inconsistency made our family stay uncomfortable and frustrating. We left feeling disappointed and upset. We cannot recommend Freedom Hotel until they make serious improvements to their housekeeping and guest care.

Stay anywhere else. Stayed here for 6 days. If it was only slightly worse I would have packed up, cut my losses and chose another hotel, however, I couldn’t bare to waste anytime during the afternoon not going out to enjoy the wonderful island. EVERY night I cursed myself for that decision: ALL NIGHT you hear the local casino regulars drunk and smoking outside yelling at each other with the security guards, first floor of the hotel is a casino (a sad one, not a fun one). It’s an old building with thin walls I guess, so if you sleep like a brick maybe not an issue, I generally sleep good though and this kept me up. DIRTY, absolutely filthy. Like I said I stayed here 6 nights, so through FIVE “room cleanings” there were still used Q-tips on the floor and hair in the bathroom. I am bald and did not bring q-tips. After their “deep cleaning” the floor was even more disgusting. Sticky. I kept my shoes on. They seemed to make the bed different every day. After the third day my blanket was gone, never came back. One day the new sheet was just left folded on the bed (for me to put on?). NO HOT WATER in the sink. Warm water in the shower, which was enough for a tropical climate, but anyone planning on shaving your using warm water in the sink will be disappointed. This would be fine if they didn’t specifically advertise “hot water” Speaking of the sink, the sink leaked all over the floor out the p-trap, took them 2 days to fix. Also, my balcony door handle was broke ON THE OUTSIDE, I was hanging clothes, wind blew door closed and I was stuck. This never got fixed. Room is dark, dingy, one electrical outlet nowhere near bed. WiFi is SLOW. I had to use data in my room. My computer couldn’t even see network at all. Location is fine, maybe great. But you have to drive everywhere on the island anyway so that really doesn’t matter. Other than breakfast the hotels a ghost town, no one hanging at pool or in lobby. The only redeeming quality is the front desk staff is really great. Every person I met was kind and sweet and helpful with recommendations. And apologetic for the hotels shortcomings in a way that for that instant you forget that you’d probably be happier sleeping under a tree (unfortunately very few trees on Curacao)
