The Nothing Box Bar & Cafe Barbados

Getting to The Nothing Box was the hardest part of the whole experience, being in rural St John. If you know the roads, you know. But coming from St Philip it was not too much of an ordeal. On arrival we parked in the provided parking lot and walked down to the beautifully set restaurant/bar seating area. The first thing I would say is that there is no restaurant view quite like it on the island, outside seating on Barbados' rugged East Coast means stunning views and the constant crashing of waves. A beautiful backdrop to a wonderful afternoon. The bar service area was clean and efficient, ordering at the till before drinks were prepared by the hard-working and friendly bar staff who tasted drinks and prepared all with care and attention. We took our seats and had the first drink (rum punch was exceptional) before going back to the food service hut and ordering. As it was a Sunday, we ordered the special, a main (meat or fish) and two sides for BBD$50pp and chicken bites and chips for the child. We were given a buzzer but were seated out of range so were told to come back in 10 minutes. On doing so, we received what can only be described as very generous portions of everything in takeaway cardboard boxes. The food quality was exceptional and so generous in fact that between 3 of us, we took home a full box of food and I am not normally one to leave anything. Throughout our visit, there were staff circulating, clearing up after guests, including taking empty bottles and glasses, as well as bins for empty food containers and plastics. The packaging adds to the green qualifications of The Nothing Box as everything was recyclable and there was no waste anywhere to be found. In summary, getting there can be tricky but the food, drinks, atmosphere and service were exceptional. Hard recommend!

Fantastic setup. What a great idea for a restaurant to be set up like this. Great location and you can tell a lot of thought has been put into the layout and building work. Easy to order. Was busy but didn't wait too long for food. Staff friendly and helpful and the surroundings... Paradise!

It's a beautiful, scenic, relaxing environment with breathtaking panoramic seaside views. It's a wonderful getaway spot that will leave you feeling stress free. The wait time for food is LONG, but if you aren't hungry and with friends to keep you occupied, then you won't feel it too much. One has to stand in the open (hot sun) to order food. Even though they provide you with umbrellas, it's still uncomfortable standing in the heat to place an order; especially if the line in long. That part needs improving. Otherwise it's a great place! I love the statues!! I highly recommend it!!!

Five of us ate lunch here today and we were very impressed by the customer service, the friendliness of all the staff, and the unique location. The food was good, with plenty leftovers. Our only concern was the grilled marlin was tough and dry. We all plan to return. If you haven't eaten there yet, don't delay. There are plans for a food truck on the premises, glamping, and a play area for the children. A big shoutout to Aailyah, she attended to all our needs. It was an extremely relaxing afternoon. We spent over three hours there. We took a stroll, chatted with other customers who were all happy with the service and location.
