Beautiful location and charming hosts. However, we were disappointed at the low standard of cleanliness in the room. It needed a deep clean and we had to clean the sticky light switches before using. There were no opening windows and in spite of air conditioning the room was musty and the bathroom damp.
We rely on reviews when booking hotels and were disappointed with the reality.

Robert is not only a great host, but the location of his Sweet Retreat is one of the best on the island! My wife and I went snorkelling right from the beach at the bottom of the property and then came back up for a perfect, homemade breakfast with fresh local fruit dishes every morning. The coffee was really great and the view, spectacular! Robert's knowledge of the island both current and historically was a great help ( and entertaining). It was a pleasure to spend time with him and his friend Roxanne! We will be back very soon!

Spent 5 days in paradise! Our hosts Robert and Shelby were absolutely wonderful - cheerful, attentive to our every need and very kowledgeable about the island. We stayed in the bungalow. It felt as if we had our own private tree house surrounded by tropical fruit trees and other greenery but with a huge bed and a refreshing enclosed outdoor shower. Brilliant sea views from balcony and only a couple of steps to the golden sand beach. We were made to feel right at home. Really appreciated breakfast which included fresh fruit salad... and a surprise cupcake each morning. I highly recommend Sweet Retreat for an unforgettable experience.

This is a superb hotel. My every need was met--snorkeling gear, towels, even an electric kettle were provided. The price is right and Robert and Shelby are both very kind. I don't think you can beat this location on Bequia. As others have said, the breakfast and dinner is a real treat; Shelby is a superb cook. I ate at most of the restaurants during my stay on Bequia and Shelby's cooking was up there as one of the best.

This place is amazing! Literally five steps away from the Lower Bay beachfront. Perfect for a small group of people who want a nice space that's close to the beach. Comes with a complete kitchen, three bedrooms, an outdoor shower, and smart tv. Its also really close to local restaurants that are affordable yet still tasty.
