We visited both Basils and The View and to start with: while Basils is a clear recommendation, I can only advise against The View. The only reason to visit this restaurant is indeed, as the name suggests, the view.
The View: The food is authentic, but the portions are very small, carelessly done and not very creative. The flavour is ok, but far from outstanding. What's more, they are completely overpriced. The value for money is absolutely not right. Not even for mustique. Although most people warn against Basils, probably because it's right in the harbour, we were very surprised by the quality, creativity and price. We paid exactly the same at Basil as we did at The View, but the food was miles better and the ambience and service was a class above. You can't really talk about ambience at The View because the music was switched off at 7pm.
The View is more of a overpriced local snack bar. That's why we were asked whether we were ready for the bill as soon as the main course was cleared. The restaurant wanted to close at 8 o'clock. In addition to the usual VAT and service charge, we were simply charged an extra 5% for paying by credit card. This has never happened to us before in the entire Caribbean...

A pleasant and enjoyable lunch at The View, worth the walk up. Grilled King Fish with a creole sauce, stuffed aubergine and rice was delicate and flavourful, also well presented. Service was relaxed and effective. Oh - then there's the view

Lovely ladies they work there that make you feel very welcome. The view is amazing to 10/10

Absolutely superb view from the balcony and very nice staff.
We arrived at 20:30 and asked if the kitchen was still open and we were told it was. So we sat down and ordered drinks. After getting the drinks they told us that the kitchen had already closed and we only had a limited selection of dishes to choose from. The food we got was good but the experience could have been better.

Terrible experience. Slow service, disrespectful and condescending attitude. 2.5 hours of waiting for this… Avoid at all costs
